Good day!
I am wondering why some people used a catch cock during training? What are the advantages and disadvantages of using a dummy?
Your inputs are very much appreciated.
thanks.

I have tried using both for training and in my opinion a dummy doesn't create a sound (klok-klok-klok) at all and does not retaliate even by pecking and once a fighting cock get used to it, it could give a negative effect in a real fight. A catch cock (or a training cock) should be alive to have a realistic training. I dont use a dummy now.
Probably you could use a dummy just for warm ups when cocks are not scheduled to fight yet. But once a formal precon and conditioning program starts, use a real one.
Good Luck and Happy Holidays.
P.S.
Dont overtrain.

I had a bad but revealing experience using the 'dummy', it exposed roosters that are not hot enough after they found out that it was lifeless, whereas the my great roosters would not stop pounding and tearing the 'dummy' even after a long period of time. this is my experience with it, hope it helps.

Thanks a lot.
Now i know that i should continue to use live chicken during conditioning eventhough that i always hurt my arms by the pecks and blows.
Anyways they say that "No Pain No Gain".
tnx :)

lamoney, I was just wondering how you hold the bird while you are hand sparring because you say your arms get hurt by the pecks and blows. :hombre:

I hold the catch cock up or in the ground as teaser to let my conditioned cock run after it back and forth or hold him high to let my cock go after him in the air, i exercise my cock this way because i dont have running nor fly pens. :) thats why more often i was hit.

lamoney, learning ur experiences during training with ur catch cock, try contacting Solraya to find out whether she sells arm shields made of leather. As reply to ur topic - NO, i don't ever use dummy in training my battlefowls for reasongs as pointed in the previous replies.
