It was said by a famous cocker that "there are no gamer greys than reds."

The FROST GREY, however disproves such statement.

Based on the records, the best grey in the Philippines are the FROST GREYS of Mr. MIKE ROMULO and his son, TONIO ROMULO (Mica and Tonio)

The WSC (World Slasher Cup) is the best avenue to test the slashers against the best of the best fowls all over the world, aside from Candelaria of course. Every International, the FROST GREYS of Mica and Tonio, would always show impressive cutting ability.

Last May 27, 2007, TUKAAN featured the father and son tandem (Mike and Tonio Romulo) who shared the history and information about the FROST GREYS.

TONIO, elaborately shared that the FROST GREYS can be traced to the MADIGN GREY.

The FROST GREYS were made famous by Bobby Joe Manziel, a Lebanese, who found a fortune when he found oil in his yard.

These same FROST GREYS are what MIKE and TONIO ROMULO have. These are excellent and superb cutters. They cut, cut and cut... and are extremely fast.

As TONIO said, "no fight would last for a minute."

Based on the premise that "GREYS are NOT GAME", it is suggested to cross it with any good hatch.

BOBBY JOE'S COMBINATION as shared by TONIO ROMULO:

Cross it with a SPANGLE-HATCH or a HATCH-ROUNDHEAD.

I'm not into GREYS....save for the FROST GREYS.

Hope this helps.

Regards to TONIO ROMULO and to Mr. MIKE ROMULO.

More wins to MICA and TONIO.

Just my thoughts....

God bless.

Mr. Bobby Joe Manziel Jr. is very much alive and kicking and he is breeding a lot of his Hatches ,Greys and Sweaters which he had not done in 2-3 years. I think you are talking about the Sr. who had been gone for so many years.

the only one can clear your argument... if bobby joe manziel is still alive or dead is tonio romulo itself...they're manziel family friend.
crisman, who's son you're referring too? is it michael manziel or bobby manziel? if michael manziel can i have his contact number and address if you don't mind, if you have...he owe me 2 pairs of chickens i keep in searching him...he changed his number both landline & cp...he's a con-artist..

There are/were three generations of Bobby Joe Manziels all cockers. Sr. was Maxx Baer's, the Heavy Weight Champion of the the World in 1934-35, manager or promoter. I don't know when he passed away, but I would say the 1960-70's. Most people probably are referring to Bobby Joe Jr. His brother is Paul Manziel. Bobby Joe the III is Bobby Joe Jrs's son. I believe Michael is Bobby Joe III's brother. I don't think Bobby Joe Jr. has passed away, but I could be wrong.

Thanks Tonio. We just purchased a trio from Ken Hutchison and while at his farm noticed he only crossed with kelso, hatch and the green legged grey blood he has. I will try that this year with our old Stansel hatch line we also have Leiper and Marion Rose. Have you ever crossed your frost with any black blood. I have Mel Sims, Mcrae, Shuffler and Redquill. The redquill blood is by far the fastest and most aggresive blood we raise second would be the Sims Black and then the shuffler and mcrae are about the same as far as speed with the mcrae being strong like a hatch type chicken.

Tonio, what is the biggest plus of your frost blood as far as ability and style etc. Thank you for your help. I ve been breeding for 20yrs but always like to learn from others I dont think I no it all. Always like to learn. Thanks again

Hi,

Yes I have bred Manziel Black over the Frost hens and they do very well. Most dont even come black-grey in color just grey. Max Thaggard made the famous "Vibrators" breeding a manziel grey over dark fowl and those bird were unbeatable for a while.

I think the frosts best attribute is its cutting they know where to place their shots, very accurate birds.

I'm breeding a hutch gray stag (via slipspur) to a 1/2 clem jap 1/2 clem black pullet. Hopefully they work. Always wanted greys and blacks and i feel i got pretty damn good ones. Its just hard getting use to fowl that are so well behaved.

Boby Joe had great Grey Cocks, but like many commercial cockers, farmed out hatches to keep up with the demand on him to sell cocks. Bobby Joe live in Tyler Texas. Many had fowl they bought from Bobby, were shipped to them from other parts of the country. Manziel Greys, at one time, were some of the best grey cocks money could buy. Like anything else, people buy the name, but after a few years, began selling "Junk" as Manziel Greys.
It depend whose hands they went through. Bobby passed away many years ago. But when Bobby Joe was fighting his own roosters, they were good as any feather that hatched.

I have a frost grey over a leiper hatch hen. I put a kelso over her this year and the stags are awesome. Two nearly died on me cause the ones still running loose beat the crap outta the ones I had on cords. They're recovering pretty quick and their attitude is still of a champ.
