PHIL COCKFIGHTING: GEESE THAT LAYS THE GOLD EGGS
Old issue, but still current. With today’s technology, whether we like them or not, the following are the future:
(1) global, live or real time internet pay per view of our pinas sabong events;
http://www.livecockfights.com/
(2) global, live or real time off track betting; and
(3) global, live or real time internet sabong betting.
ONLY PAGCOR should be given the authority, jurisdiction, and power, under government oversight, to run or control such businesses, and to collect and remit taxes to our pinas treasury.
http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/storypage.aspx?StoryID=61831
Or, whether we like them or not, greedy operators would illegally run or control such businesses, to the detriment and injuries of our sabongeros, as what had happened before in an internet pinas sabong site. There is mother lode of money out there and either we tap such money for the best of pinas treasury and economy, or some illegal businesses would tap them without paying any taxes and without fair game.
For such live or real time global internet pay per view, I suggest about a 10% tax. Its simple. If you are a consumer any where in the world and you pay $10 for such event, our phil. treasury gets $1. If we have 1 million sabongero ofw’s and balikbayans around the world, that’s a lot of money for the treasury. Pagcor could deal with the sabong promoters as to how much would be the promoters’ take in global internet pay per view. And such promoter’s take would be taxable too. This is where the CONTRASTING TARI TAPE COLOR suggestion comes into play for better watching enjoyment.

Continuing...
______
For live or real time, off track betting and/or internet sabong betting, I suggest a FLAT 10% TAX ON WINNINGS ONLY (like our kristo’s or tagapusta’s take) at the end of each sabong day’s event. Everybody would have an internet account with Pagcor, and at the end of the sabong day’s transactions, Pagcor would know who the winners are, and the 10% TAX ON WINNINGS ONLY goes to phil. treasury. Such winnings should be exempt from anymore taxes. No double taxation.
(The problem: some politicians don’t like pagcor; and that is why we need our sabong associations’ lead and support to reconcile and make things happen.)
If, and when, we put these suggestions in place, it would be a gold mine for our phil. treasury, and our pinas sabong and sabongeros are also protected from exploitation. Everything would be legal, clean, fair, and honest. Its free choice to buy pay per view, and its free choice to enjoy off track or internet sabong betting.
What do you nice and wonderful people think?

sometimes we can be a failure to our own success...the supersonics was a classic example of too advance technology...it travel so fast but it consumed a lot of fuel that made the fare unaffordable...if sabong will go otb and live betting on the internet...the ***,****,****, will kill
it on the first buckle...and more...this group has more money than god...after LA, who knows
what their mood is for dessert...

tony,
For a moment I thought you're getting weird too.:) :D :D
now that our american friends are closing shop, with our successful international and national derbies, and the ongoing growth of our sport, dont you think we should try to beat puerto rico and mexico, and be number one in cockfighting in all categories, especially, in terms of cockfighting income?
what do you nice and wonderful people think?

no, especially offtrack betting, even online betting, it would do great harm to the filipino family
gambling apart of the sport, leave it in the cockpit!!!!
philippines is far ahead of mexico or puerto rico, number of farms, number of fowl bred, number of cockpits, feeds, etc

I just want to breed, breed, breed and fight my stags, bullstags and cocks. These are my geese that lays the golden eggs for my happiness and pleasure or what we call in our dialect is our BIGA. As long as there is cockfighting in the philippines, i don't care about anything else esp. politics.

Cheers.
There are times when we don’t have any choice but to deal with our government or officials. Its not politics, just part of doing business. It’s the same choice as when a cockpit operator tries to get a license and the best deal for his pit from the town or city mayor.
In any case, we only have two choices. With respect to these three sabong businesses:
(1) be proactive, and thru pagcor, get the best deal for pinas sabong and for pinas treasury; or
(2) do nothing and be reactive later against illegal, greedy, dirty, dishonest, or unfair business operators, who would surely exploit our sabong and sabongeros, pay no taxes, and be a shame and embarrassment to our fellow filipinos. Such exploitation has happened before, and without the first choice, would surely sprout and happen again because there is big money out there.

Should nevadans or americans be ashamed of las vegas casino gaming?
Should filipinos be ashamed of pagcor or pinas sabong?

Why compare? we enjoy our SPORT here and it's legal. Pagcor or Pinas sabong are different from each other.

Very well said Mr. James Wolf. It seems you know more better what happens here than other Pilipino's in abroad?
