I am currently a student getting my AA degree in math and science with a major in Poultry Science, from my research I have discovered that it is not good to give (medicated) feed to baby chicks..It can and will make them suseptical to anti-biotics that will do more harm than good..When disease does come into the picture later on the anti biotics will have very little or no effect at all..The best thing to do is to have clean/santitized living quarters, feed and water containers. And cull out any disease or potential disease carriers.Consult a poultry expert in your region to find out what diseases that are common in your area that you should be aware of and vaccinate against and when.....

A sharp knife and a chopping board! Fowl pox and crd are debilitating diseases, never attempt to cure it. A sickly chick will never turn out to be a great slasher fowl. Cull the sickly, take good care of the rest. goodluck!

Not sure of the medicated feed that is available in the PI but the medicated feed available in the USA is not medicated with antibiotics. THe medication in the chick starter is normally Ampollium (sp) or sold as CORID for mixing with water or feed. it is not a Antibiotic but instead of affecting the chicks it affects the Cocci that infect young fowl (from the ground) that causes the problem of Coccidiosis. THe levels of medication in the feed is very low and will eventually allow the chicks to build up an immunity to what ever particular Cocci is in their area. There are several strains of Coccidiosis and chicks moved from one area to another may or may not be immune to the new areas particular strain. COrid mixed in the water and kept in front of newly imported fowl young or old can help them develope the needed immunity. In young fowl coccidiosis is deadly abd quick moving. Usually in oldler fowl they may just go off a bit and generally recover.

vaccination is the best way to do

but for those who does not have the ways and means

fresh small chili peppers are the best remedy for

"bulutong" at "sipon"

yung pinaka maanghang na maliliit na sili ang gamitin

2 to 4 months old chicks = 3 to 5 pcs of fresh chili (sili)

ipakaing buo ang sili and in 3 to 5 days time

bulutong at sipon turns dry and gone

you saved your chicks w/o side effects of harsh antibiotics
