View Full Version : Twisted Head Syndrome (?)

I have a 12 month old rooster (Sweater) who was doing well from egg until he matured.
He received a bacakyard vaccination schedule of NCD B1, Lasots B1B1 and Fowl Pox with booster.
All of a sudden, he fell from his TEE and went to the ground and flipped flopped in a circling motion. Suddenly we realized that his head has turned upside down. It is now looking up to the sky.
It is like epilepsy.
We had the first encounter in July 2007, when our 3 month old chick, twisted its head.
What is the sickness called?
What should be done to treat this disease?
What should be done to prevent this disease?
Thanks and God bless.

these are the probable causes. 1 NCD although ng vaccinate k bk mababa n o wl ng antibody 2 mareks not vaccinated 3 malaria you dont mention kung ngbibigay k ng prevention.eto lng alam ko n pwedeng mg cause ng twisted head n ns teepee ang manok:)

That happened to mine before. Its NCD even if they are already vaccinated may tinatamaan pa rin.But at least mortality is controlled.Probably during vaccination we missed to give it properly. That's the only possible reason i can think of.

Though most (if not all) of the answers are correct...
This is the nearest answer amongst all.

just my opinion,
twisted head/nick syndrome was happened because of blood difficulties to circulates upward portion of the nick causing to build-up the blood pressure that resulted twisted head/nick syndrome. or maybe due to "mareks" virus, and what others says this could be probably inherited from the previous breed that carries this kind of virus.

The main cause of LIMBERNECK is by eating food materials containing toxins or poisons caused by a germ called Clostridium Botulinum. Birds become sick within a few hours to 1 or 2 days after ingesting toxic materials from spoiled feeds.
