FRIENDS, LET'S REMEMBER THE BEATLES AND THEIR GREATEST HITS.THE BEATLES CONSISTS OF FOUR MEMBERS FROM LIVERPOOL ENGLAND:JOHN LENNON,PAUL McCARTNEY,GEORGE HARRISON & RINGO STARR.
IN OCTOBER 1962 THEIR FIRST SINGLE,"LOVE ME DO"CAME OUT AND IT WAS MORE OR LESS A HIT.FOLLOWED BY "PLEASE PLEASE ME,"SHE LOVES YOU" AND "FROM ME TO YOU".THEY WERE TOURING THE WHOLE COUNTRY AND THE USA WAITED FOR THEM BUT THE BEATLES SAID WERE NOT GOIN' TO AMERICA UNTIL WE'VE GOT A NUMBER ONE THERE!"SO INSTEAD THEY WENT TO FRANCE AND AFTER A SHOW THEY GOT A TELEGRAM TO THE HOTEL:" CAPITOL RECORDS CONGRATULATES THE BEATLES FOR BEING NUMBER ONE IN U.S CHARTS". SO AFTER FRANCE THEY WENT TO THE USA, AND MADE A GREAT SUCCESS.IN 1965 THE BEATLES WAS TOURING THE WHOLE WORLD.THEY STARTED TO MAKE THEIR FIRST MOVIE,"A HARD DAYS NIGHT"."HELP" WAS THE NAME OF THE NEW RECORD AND THEIR SECOND MOVIE.IT WAS A MILLION SELLER.
IN THE END OF 1965 THEY PLAYED AT THE SHEA STADIUM IN NEW YORK,IN FRONT OF A RECORD PUBLIC WITH 55,000 PEOPLE. NOBODY HAD PLAYED FOR SO MANY PEOPLE BEFORE.
THE MUSIC STARTED NOW TO BE MORE VARIED AND GEORGE HARRISON WAS INSPIRED WITH INDIAN MUSIC.EXAMPLE OF THAT, CAN YOU HEAR THE RECORD " RUBBER SOUL"?THEY WERE TOURING ASIA WITH THEIR HIT SONG LIKE "PAPERBACK WRITER".
THEY WENT TO THE PHILIPPINES , BUT THEY DIDN'T FEEL HAPPY. IT WAS TOO MUCH, THE 'BEATLEMANIA'WAS EVERYWHERE AND THEY WERE TIRED. IN THE END OF 1966 THEY PLAYED AT CANDLESTICK PARK IN SAN FRANCISCO . IT WAS THEIR LAST OFFICIAL GIG EVER.
THEY HAD MORE TIME TO MAKE RECORDS AND IN 1967 THEY MADE "SERGEANT PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND" & THE SINGLES "ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE"& "PENNY LANE"/ "STRAWBERRY FIELDS FOREVER".
THEY ALSO PRODUCED THEIR OWN TV-FILM "MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR" (ALSO A RECORD)IN 1968 THEY MADE THE" WHITE ALBUM".1969 THEY DID "LET IT BE"& "ABBEY ROAD".THEIR LAST GIG WAS ON THE ROOF OF THE APPLE BUILDING IN LONDON. IN APRIL 1970 THE BEATLES WAS DECLARED DEAD. THE MEMBERS CONTINUED TO MAKE MUSIC ON THEIR OWN.THEIR RECORDS MADE THE BEATLES AS THE MOST POPULAR MUSICAL GROUP- EVER
THEN AND EVEN NOW!REMEMBERING THE BEATLES

like my son who purchased all the beatles cds he could find. the only cd he couldn't find is the white album. just an observation...how did you have an interest and liking for the beatles? only lately perhaps? i said this because you were only six years old when the beatles popularity reached the philippines. am i correct?

i was in high school when they caught the philippines by storm. at that time majority of young people were sporting the beatles hair style. the barbers sulked in their chairs. nobody was patronizing barbershops. tancho tique was having brisk sales. bell bottom slacks and BANDERADO's favorite ban-lon were in vogue. if you were between the ages of 14-19 at that time, you would have said that that's the most memorable part of your life. ask orly ilacad, vic del rosario, tirso cruz III, ramon jacinto, ronnie villar, sampaguita, aldeguer sisters and others.

ironically, some british whites i asked do not like the beatles. they did not explain why.

idagdag na natin sina nat "king" cole at tony bennett. "i left my heart, in san francisco..." ang lamig ng boses. huwag din natin kalimutan si johnny mathis. "a certain smile, a certain face..." aside from the beatles and the aforementioned singers, i also like neil diamond (sweet caroline), tony orlando (tie a yellow ribbon), los bravos (black is black), tom jones (my elusive dreams), everly brothers (devoted to you), gary lewis and the playboys (well respected man), etc.

napalukso ba ulit ang puso mo? madalas ka ba sa jam sessions noon? "i bless the day i found you...i want to stay around you...now and forever...let it be me." theme song namin ng pen pal ko noong high school. sol, naitabi mo ba iyong slum books mo nung high school ka? ano ba ang motto mo?

banderado,

di syempre pwedeng mawala sa list si elvis ("knock three times...on the ceiling if you want me...") ("love me tender...love me sweet, all my dreams fulfilled..."). sa dami ng songs ng lettermen, isa lang yata ang naalaala ko, "my cup runneth over."

and speaking of the platters, sabi ng anak ko nung una nyang marinig sa airwaves ang platters, "mommy, may bagong usong kanta." sagot ng misis ko, "hijo, revival lang yan. panahon pa yan ng lolo mo."

beatles ulit: "please lock me away...and don't allow the day...here inside, where i hide...with my loneliness...i don't care what they say...i won't stay in a world without love."

remember rj and the riots? well, he's keeping the spirit of the beatles alive by playing beatles songs on his own cable tv channel. if i remember correctly, it was year 2002 when ramon jacinto celebrated his birthday(?) and invited no other than the host of the "night owl dance party" 60's tv program, lito gorospe. the occasion was telecast live.

how about boots anson roa (now running for senator) and pete roa's "dance o' rama" tv program? or tirso cruz III's "nine teeners" tv program? do you remember them?

Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away
Now it looks like as though they're here to stay
Oh i believe in yesterday

Suddenly, i'm not half the man i used to be
There's a shadow hanging over me
Oh yesterday came suddenly

Why she had to go i dont know, she wouldn't say
I said something wrong, now i long for yesterday.

Yesterday, love was such an easy game to play
Now i need a place to hide away
Oh i believe in yesterday.

Mm mm mm mm....

Solraya,

I agree with you hndi nga komplikado ang kanta noon ng mga beatles... she loves you yeah...yeah...yeah. Pero very lyrical parang mga poems ang pagkakasulat... nobody wants to know him they could see he was just a fool and he nevers gives an answer for the fool on the hill. Parang kumplikado ah?

ACROSS THE UNIVERSE

Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup,
They slither while they pass, they slip away across the universe
Pools of sorrow, waves of joy are drifting through my open mind,
Possessing and caressing me.
Jai guru deva om
Nothing’s gonna change my world,
Nothing’s gonna change my world.

Images of broken light which dance before me like a million eyes,
That call me on and on across the universe,
Thoughts meander like a restless wind inside a letter box they
Tumble blindly as they make their way
Across the universe
Jai guru deva om
Nothing’s gonna change my world,
Nothing’s gonna change my world.

Sounds of laughter shades of earth are ringing
Through my open views inviting and inciting me
Limitless undying love which shines around me like a
Million suns, it calls me on and on
Across the universe
Jai guru deva om
Nothing’s gonna change my world,
Nothing’s gonna change my world.

Something in the way she moves
Attracts me like no other lover
Something in the way she woos me
I don’t want to leave her now
You know I believe in her.

Somewhere in the smile she knows
That I don’t need no other lover
Something in her style that showed me
Don’t want to leave her now.

You’re asking me when my love grows
I don’t know, I don’t know
You stick around & it may show
I don’t know, I don’t know.

Something in the way she looks
And all I have to do is think about
Something in the thing she showed me
I don’t want to leave her now
You know I will leave her now.

Those were the days my friend....hehehe. ;)

ironically, some british whites i asked do not like the beatles. they did not explain why. - hennie

Hennie,

Perhaps, one of the reasons can be found on the cover of Beatles' Sgt. Pepper album. At the background of that album were photos of people who were regarded by the Beatles as their “heros” or people they “like and admire”. One of those people in the photos is Aleister Crowley, called the “Great Beast”, the founding father of modern Satanism.

Also, John Lennon once made the following remarks;

"Christianity will go, it will vanish and shrink. I needn't argue about that. I'm right and will be proved right. You just wait.. . .We're more powerfull than Jesus ever was.." - John Lennon

Jrtras, wasn't it "more famous"...not more powerful?

They were high on D of course during those times. But, when he is sober, John, he is alright.

Kidd

p.s. no excuses though

jrtras
May 20th, 2004, 05:07 AM
Kidd, that was how it was quoted from the article I read about the Beatles. Even if it was phrased “more famous” the remark is still blasphemous...and you're right, there’s no excuse for making such remark whether they’re high on drugs or not.

I don’t mean to be KJ (kill joy) to the Beatles fans, I only tried to give Hennie an idea as to why some doesn’t like the Beatles inspite of their enormous popularity. I used to be a Beatles fan too, but not after I learned of their Satanist belief.

Cheers!
