i had couple of fowls that got hit by avian malaria few years back. at first they lost their appetite without showing any sign of mucus secretion (sipon). then they became anemic till they become skin and bones. i just don't know if there's any vaccination to prevent it... i just give "pyristat" on their drinks if any show signs of lossing appetite.

Prevention is still better than cure. I don't think Avian malaria sufferers or survivors should be kept. To prevent Avian Malaria, use a good TMPS medication once a month for 3-5 days straight. And rid your yard of any stagnant water which is the breeding ground of mosquitoes that spread Avian Malaria...
