agenda #1 observations and recommendations from
derby experience.

resolved :
based on our two (2) derby experiences, recommended
are the fllg. non-negotiable conditions before we
promote and give the all-systems go for our derby.

1. there should be a contract;
2. consider very well the month and date of promo;
3. preparation should not be less than 75 days;
4. venue consideration (1 entrance , 1 exit only , the
capacity, and the facilities like cockhouses);
5. control of working crews, like runner, referee, monton
cashier, gate cashier, match maker, weight verifier,
security, etc.
6. derby comm - if possible, will assign one who will
oversee all the action that is going on before and
after the derby. will insure that runners are doing
their job , monitor the heeling area, enfore rules,
collect and monitor entry fees, collect gate fees,
etc.

in other words, if we do not have control of the listed
recommendations, no deal. to err ones is human,
to err twice is charge to experience, to err thrice is
NGEEEEEE !

discussion on the coming stag derby promo (here we
go again..... evgba'ns known for their gameness,
ahehehe)

discussed and agreed were the fllg :

1. 4 stag derby (a 3-stag was also considered to
accomodate as much entries)
2. entry fee : P3,300.00 (but since the entry fee is
minimal , it was carried that it be a 4-stag derby)
3. prize : P150,000.00 (considering the small entry
fee)
4. date : september 2,2006 (availabe vacation date
of our el presi)
5. weight : 1.700kg to 2.200kg (we will no longer
accomodate requested weights lesser or more than
the agreed weight)
6. min & max bets : P1,100.00 & P4,400.00 (rationale,
from past exp. we observed that majority of
entrants wager from this bracket just to test their
breds)
7. penalties : P500.00 delayed fight
P500.00 per 10gms bad weight
give and take 25gms only.


8. venue : under negotiations


CRITERIA :
a. must have 7-7 primary wing feathers
b. must have uncut/untampered spurs
c. general appearance of a stag.
d. the decision of the screener to accept or reject stags
is final.


A STAG FIGHTER OF THE YEAR AWARD/TROPHY WILL BE
GIVEN TO THE CHAMPION MEMBER ONLY.
IF WE CAN GET ANOTHER TROPHY FROM OUR SPONSOR,
A FASTEST WIN AWARD WILL ALSO BE GIVEN FOR

GOOD NEWS (hehe, for a change)

met the warm people of excellence and purina during
their seminar in tacloban city last 27 june 2006.
after the seminar we (bai ryan, bai mark, bai patrick,
and urs truly) approached doc john paul tolentino of
of purina and requested for support for our derby.
he readily agreed and told us to give him a sample of
of our logo so it can be engraved in the streamers.
purina will also be giving feeds (bio lines and rooster
booster) for the entrants.

talked with doc andrew bunan also and doc beboy of
excellence. they too are willing to help us by way of
invitations, trophies, t-shirts, and streamers. WOW
what they need are the details of the derby.

finally, we had a long talk with mr. manny berbano of
pit games and llamado mags. he was talking of us
(evgba) writing mr. ricoy palmares to have evgba
as guest entrants and then later on accredited member
of the national federation of gamefowl breeders (nfgb)
and fight in the bakbakan stag and bullstag wars.
for this year, he said they are expecting 1,000 entries,
whew. told us to send to mr. palmares our SEC reg.,
names of officers and members together with the
addresses and contact nos.

mga abais, lets try to focus on memberships. seems
like we're already contented with our nos., hehe.

bai naval, that's the name of the game ! PREVENTION
is still the BEST CURE. in my many years of breeding
and raising gamefowls, i have tried most everything.
we tend to shift from 1 extreme (vodoo meds) to
the other extreme (antibiotics dependence). but
have'nt we considered clean environment ? good
spacing ? well ventilation ? right timing of adminis-
tering vaccines ? proper disposal of wastes ?
quality fresh feeds, clean fresh water, regular deworm-
ing and delousing, proper vitamins, strict culling,
practice regular disinfectation of your farm and farm
equipments (feeders, waterers, incubators, brooders)
etc, etc. sometimes there are small chores we tend
to oversee but in the end they count a lot.

we are located in leyte, and we only have 2 seasons,
rainy and wet, ahehehe. meaning to say, we should
expect a lot of changes in environment. change in
environment means STRESS. and stress means
susceptibility to SICKNESS. and sick birds mean extra
expense plus the possibility of losing in the end coz
our bird didnt have the stamina to last til the last
peck.

now, do i get sick birds, of course i do, but minimal.
what do i do with the birds that get sick ? i cull them
as early as possible (when we do not have an
emotional attachment w/them yet due to age and
financial investment). in the end , i save on expense,
space, labor, time, etc.

when i learned all these things, i have spent a con-
siderable amount of time, money, labor, etc already.
but thats the NAME OF THE GAME.

bai , sa akoa ra ni experience in raising healthy birds.
we almost have the same environment. we raise
birds right in front of the sea. very prone to environ-
mental changes. then again, my weapon, early
prevention. its almost the month of july and here in
our place is the time for "habagat" due to typhoons and tropical depressions. this winds, carry
with them viruses like ncd. it took me a long time,
to realize this (trial and error lagi) pero ako na clang
onhan ron. have your farm visited by a competent
vet. try to know what are the common deseases
and viruses that attack your birds. what month do they usually visit your farm ? from there, you can do your early prevention.

one part lang ni bai ang raising healthy birds. of course,
ang pag-daog consistently (goal) is another long
story.

share lang ni nako. maayo unta wala mo pilawa:)


BTW, by contract we mean the legal document that
binds the owner of the venue and the promoter to
the terms and conditions agreed upon and stipulated

If the derby is on September 2, the stag candidates should have been hatched by late November or early December of 2005. If I am not wrong, the ideal stags should be 8-10 months old, more or less.
I think, not too many EVGBAns have bred and hatched in Nov to December. As I recall, those months were rainy months.

As of now, diri ako sigurado kun kakan-o napusa an amon pipira-pira nga mga stags, pero I believe that they were born January or February 2006.

I am assuming that many have bred and hatched during the months of January and February, and therefore, there will be more participants in OCTOBER, as there will more stag candidates.

I suggest that the stag derby be reset to October 2006.

your inputs. hope you can give us also venues to consider
in the waray area. if they can pass our qualifications as
listed in page 109 and the non negotiable issues we have
discussed in our meeting like contract, full control of working crew, 1 entrance 1 exit only venue, and of course
the rate of rental, we will have a wider choice of venues.
we just do not want to get it the 3rd time.:)

time is getting short, bai izlo and doc joey, are now in the
process of negotiating with the nadongholan cockpit and
the valencia sports and recreation center. both of these
venues are very willing to hold our 4stag derby. i thought
the remaining issue left is the rate of rental. if you can
talk to the cockpit owners in the waray area then we can
settle the venue hopefully this week.

so, be it in waray area or in ormoc area, let us all FULLY
SUPPORT whatever decision team evgba will make.

EVGBAns - Much that we want to hold our 4-stag derby in waray-waray area, we regret to officially announce that this will be held in Nadungholan, Ormoc City instead due to some valid reasons:

1. CAPACITY
2. PROXIMITY
3. THE RENTAL
4. NUMBER OF ENTRIES WITHIN THE VICINITY

Please make it abundantly clear to everybody that it’s not the president nor the vice-president having all the say and that we perfectly know we work as a team and democracy rules. This is after proper deliberation with the derby committee and most of our concerned members and officers. Let’s put this into record that once there is an OBVIOUS membership expansion in Samar, WE MUST hold one or our derbies in Tacloban or even in Catbalogan or the like. First, we put the membership in real considerable figures. Biliran Island is the number one prospect for our next year’s major activities with the presence of one of our very active EVGBAns Ben Comeo, Tony Mecaral, Jun Mecaral or Dixie Loygos.

With special mention to Sangkay Tarantula who came all the way from Carigara in every meeting we had to participate in the decision making and putting some valuable inputs for the success of this derby. Of course, our all-around supporter-member Sangkay Piranha, thanks guys for all the support we will try our best that in the future, your suggestions can be looked into accordingly. Also, the suggestion for the stag derby to be moved to October was discussed but being the period to be a clean-up already, there is a chance that we will end up with fewer entries. Nevertheless, your endeavours are always part of our success.

after many many deliberations and text msgs from
our friends trying to weigh all points, as what doc
malden has said " the die is cast" the venue and
the date of derby sealed.

let me just brief our abais and padis of the discussions
that transpired during the series of meetings with our
derby committee.

A) Venue
- we all know the story of our last derby. factors
that really carried weight in the decision making
is :

1. Contract - the owner must be willing to sign a
contract of lease with the evgba having full
control (selection/assigning/salaries) of working
crew.
2. 1 entrance, 1 exit venue- again, this weighed
a lot in the decision making. based on our
2 previous derbies, entrants leaving coz of
whimsical reasons really caused a lot of trouble
and headaches for us.
3. Facilities - parking space, cockhouses, and the
capacity (vol. of people) of the venue weighed
heavily also.
4. Proximity and Rate of Rentals.

We had a talk with Ramon Conopio of Nadongholan
Cockpit yesterday. He and Ega Larrazabal are
willing to sign contracts on our terms and conditions.
we have seen the venue and saw it to be almost
perfect, 1 entrance, 1 exit only; very wide parking
space, has 75 cockhouses, it can sit around 2-3
thousand people, it is located at the city (very
near hotels and restaurants, 10 min drive from the
supercat terminal. it has gen sets and amplifiers
which btw is free of rentals. very very accessible
to derby afficionados. lastly, the rate of rental per
day is P15k only exclusive of permits and taxes,
and for transparency they are letting us handle
the payment of taxes and permits. also, we had
a count-of of possible entries in ormoc city only
and it totalled not less than 30 entries.

B) DATE/MONTH
- from what the comm. has gathered, here in
leyte alone, maasin would try to hold one in
sept., baybay is holding one in sept., villaba
and tabango is also trying to organize one
in sept., merida is shaping up a 3stag no pot
money and as we all know valencia sports
center will hold a 4stag no pot money also
last week of sept.
the comm. is afraid that we might not be able
to gather enough entries for a 4stag derby
if we hold it in oct. where everyone would
be holding their clean-up stag derbies already.
from here, it was decided that it be on a sept.
1&2 would be the date, as our el presidente
has this days as his scheduled vacation dates.
again, the question of will there be enough
stags by that time ? yes, from last yr's exp.
most of our stags that qualified were jan.
born. i even used a feb. born hatch stag coz
i had 5 stags disqualified coz they didnt pass
the 7-7 primary feathers rule (and 3 of those
were even jan. born) to my surprise, there
were many using late jan. and early feb. born
stags just so they can test their breds. i also
noticed many bets that are in the min. bracket
P2,200 and even P1,100. so what does this
mean ? the entrants are not afraid to test
their young stags seeing that they are not
alone in doing so. only legitimate stags
passed !!!

WHY NOT CONSIDER WARAY AREA AS A VENUE ?
- the truth is we considered waray area as a venue.
as what bai tarantula has said, it is a great
opportunity to expand membership from this area.
when we attended the excellence/purina seminar
in tacloban a friend of bai tarantula was even
asking us if we're holding again a stag derby and
when it would be ?, problem is,
- we have not enough info about the venues and
the owners in the waray area ?
- we are not closing our doors to a possible holding
again of a stag derby in the waray area. IF (the
big IF) our stag derby promo on sept would be
succesful, we can hold a clean-up derby in the
waray area.
- we will need a NEGOTIATOR/ACTION MAN from the area who will initially do the exploratory talks, do venue inspection, etc (we have posted list/
criteria in choosing venue).



i really want to see a stag derby with entrants from
all over leyte, biliran, and samar. i thought for now,
this would only be a dream. but, i know someday,
with all the evgba'ns, friends, supporters, behind us
all the way, this dream would be a reality.

Just talk with Dr. Ayong Lorenzo over the phone and they have discussed with his GM our plans. Based on the request of EVGBA they received by fax, OK na sila sa posters, streamers and invitations.

Ok na rin request natin na magpa-raffle ng 1 trio from El Dia Farm.

But in return, we should also give them a favor by conducting a seminar a day before the scheduled derby so they can introduce their company and products in western and southern leyte. I think, this is not much of a problem but we have to mobilize and invite as much owners, breeders, handlers and afficionados for it to be successful. In your meeting tomorrow with Rizza, please make it a point to identify the place, time, program and dessimination of letters of invitations for the seminar. I might be one of the speakers and Doc Joey kung available siya.

I will visit Doc Ayong together with some friends this sunday for some drinks. We will talk about the things you discussed with Rizza further.

gamefowl seminar before our derby. c doc sonny will post
the exact date and venue of the seminar either tonight

also for our stag derby and for manny berbano to pledge

look at the gold (dark) stag. this is what we mean by
must have the physical and general appearance of a
stag.
at 1st look, it will easily pass as a stag. but if you
will scrutinize it closely, you will notice that the spurs
were tampered (the pointed tip was cut and it grew and
developed again) the inside primaries are already long
but the shade/color of the new feather is already different, and when you feel him, hehehe, eddie garcia na,

intact, uncut/untampered spurs, general and physical

stag fighting.
