1) judge felicen - eastern samar manok galing manila
2) BERTING CAllosa - backyard breeder from tacloban
3) engr. _____ - backyard breeder from tanuan leyte
4) achievers farm - atty. jun jun salazar, breeder from tacloban... EVGBA member
5) lito apor - backyard breeder from tacloban
6) lito tiu/robert - backyard breeder from tacloban

there were 69 entries. derby started past 8pm and the last sultada ended at past 10AM the following day... grabe sultada...mabilis at evenly matched..there were entries from biliran, naval, inopacan, baybay, eastern samar, carigara, burauen, alangalang, manila, abuyog,

atty. bimboy rojas entry BRAVEHEART lost its championship fight against the entry of eng. from tanuan.. it was a championship fight for both entries.. atty rojas rooster was killed with just two angat blows.....

my entry GABRIELLA won its first fight, lost second and won again on its last fight.
my first fight was the fastest kill of the night kaya lang wala fastest kill prize....it was our YLH, an almost 3 years old broodcock; an offspring of our orig DVH trio ...

larry villaruel of hilongos ably handled and conditioned the entry of INOPacan gallera kaya lang lady luck was not on their side.......

Mental Conditioning

sometimes over emphasis on physcial conditioning is given over on our stags rather

than Mental Preparedness. do not underestimate the value of mental preparedness

esp. during stag derbies. many have learned the hard way (yours truly not exempted)

and many more stags could have performed better during the stag wars had we been

extra sensitive to our stags mental preparations.


One way of preparing our stags mentally is to rotate them in their tie cords often. this

way they get to be used to different surroundings (diff feather colors, diff ages, diff kinds

of roosters' crows, etc. etc.). a little extra effort on our part will pay dividends in the

end.

NEW FACES, NEW EXCITEMENT that's the theme for our EVGBA 2007 Stag fest. The team headed by you ably backed up by bai Mark, did a very good job indeed so that the prerequisites for our stag circuit will be done. Traveling to as far as LAOANG, NORTHERN SAMAR was not an easy job, so to speak. Soon, any accolade will go to the whole group but the noticeable heroic acts of some members, will not be forgotten. CONGRATS also for a job well done. We will finalize the EVGBA stag rules soon so that we can distribute copies to all members and would be entrants of the event.

Anyway, ang ato schedule sa stagfest, Sept. 15 3-Stag Derby, Sept. 28-29 4-Stag Derby, ang clean up kon ma push thru, sometime October kay sa Nov. 3 ang Bakbakan Eliminations. The venue for all of these is Nadongholan Cockpit, Ormoc City 5 minutes ra gikan sa pier.

Spent the whole day yesterday on the road, travelled around 900 miles (roundtrip) by car, got lost right at New England, arrived NY at 1:15 pm and headed back to Massachussetts at 8 PM.
Yes we were at 69th Street corner Roosevelt Avenue, Home of the Yankees.
T'was a warm day interrupted by a short heavy downpour.
There, in a hudle, were BenC, Mike0056 (NY/Bohol), izlo77, NAVAL, and me. The group was honored to have the presence of Adonis C (of Bacolod/NJ), Dante "Bebot" Turija (of NY/Iloilo) and Rostum G (of Iloilo/Massachusetts). Lod Olvina (NY/Iloilo) also dropped by to say hi.

The Haydol had to leave early for a more pressing appointment.
He rushed to a job interview and left, promising to come back.

I know that NAVAL's camera clicked 3x.
I hope they don't get posted here.....especially after 3 rounds of SMBs.
Got back home 12 midnight.

We had a great time.......:)

STAG DERBY RULES:

1.) ACCEPTED STAGS

1.) Only stags banded by the EASTERN VISAYAS GAMEFOWL BREEDERS ASSOCIATION INC. (EVGBA) and stags banded by NFGB affiliated associations are accepted. NO SCREENING OF UNBANDED STAGS WILL BE CONDUCTED.

NOTE:
Entries using non-EVGBA banded stags are required to make an appointment with the EVGBA banding committee for rescreening and legbanding prior to the submission of weights.
Rescreening of non-EVGBA banded stags will use the following criteria:

1.a Possessing intact 7-7 primary wing feathers on both wings.

1.b Uncut and untampered spurs.

1.c Must possess the general appearance of a stag.

1.d must be accompanied by the original stag registry form of the origin association or the xerox copy of the stag registry form certified true copy from the original by the president of the association or by any authorized representative.

2.) RESCREENING AND LEGBANDING

Rescreening and legbanding will be conducted on fight day, from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Late comers will be meted a fine of Php 500.00 per entry regardless of reason. NO STAGS WILL BE ALLOWED TO LEAVE THE COCKPIT PREMISES AFTER RESCREENING AND LEGBANDING.

3.) MATCHING

Give and take is 20 grams for stags weighing 1.900 kgs. and below

Give and take is 30 grams for stags weighing above 1.900 kgs.

Weight allowance : 35 grams (max.)

Definition of terms:

Give and take - the declared maximum allowable weight difference between matched stags. it is a condition wherein an entry , either takes the weight advantage or gives the weight advantage to his opponent.

Weight allowance - the maximum allowable weight increase above the registered weight of a particular stag on reweight without knife.

Bad weight - a condition wherein a particular stag increases its weight beyond the maximum weight allowance on reweight without knife.

posted before, all the agenda that were discussed yesterday were already submitted,

studied, and refined months ago and were a product of millions of text msgs and

counter txt msgs (ahehe), exchange of notes and ideas, and mini reviews and

conferences over a hot can-adieng coffee, salted peanuts and cool agua dulce water

at the veepee's garden lounge.


okidoki, meeting started at about 3:30pm at the newly constructed La Vegia Resto at

Brgy. Bantigue. very cozy place with the ormoc bay sunset background. present were

doc joey, bai mark ferry and yours truly.

Agenda :

1. our very own EVGBA STAG RULES as formulated by doc joey and ably assisted by
doc sonny. critic by bai mark. this is a product of deep study and comparison with
other associations' (cvba and lgba) present stag rules. as per conversation with
bai victor s. (presi of cvba) their present stag rules is also a product of 3 yrs.
refining. as it is, our very own EVGBA STAG RULES is not carved in stone but is
also welcome to scrutiny, refining, adjusting, and additional inputs. what is important
is this will become our GUIDE for DECISION MAKING for this year's stagfest for all
members and guests joining our stag series. we came up with this rules based on
our own (evgba) stag derby promos and experiences.

i trust 1AAA will not get weary on posting bisan partial2X (total of #12) lang ang
atoang mga stag rules for the benefit of our members abroad.


2. we were also able to finalize the contents that yours truly will email to THUNDERBIRD
officials for our posters, streamers, and invitations. we are already running out of
time as we wanted that posters esp. and streamers be made visible all over leyte
and samar including the biliran islands 1st week of august. we have agreed also
that EVGBA STAG RULES be made available in advance (via lbc ) to all our members
most esp. to those who had their stags banded.


3. WORKING CREW. we reviewed our past derbies and have seen that streamlining,
recruitment and interview of people needed for our stag series and bakbakan elims
has to be done at least a month before the sked derby. we have decided and doc
joey and bai mark has committed a deadline for coming up with names and hiring
of working crew : 31 July 2007
all working crew will be subject to performance appraisal.


4. Memorandum of Agreement. yours truly will work out with the management of
Nadongholang cockpit for a visual examination of the venues' facilities and also
some of their crews's salary which we thought are incorporated already in our
rentals.


5. GATE TICKETS, WEIGH SLIPS, ETC. we have agreed that gate tickets would still be
the same P150.00 for gen. admission and P200.00 for ringside.

Q.C.

** the NFGB shall shoulder the 1 day accomodation of our representative during
this training.

7. Pre fight screening of stags : inspection and legbanding of stags by
NFGB Reps will be from 6am up to 9am
only on the day of derby. Penalties will
be levied for non compliance.

8. NFGB DERBY RULES : shall govern the conduct of this derby to
ensure the integrity of the result.

9. VIDEO COVERAGE : video coverage of the elims is manda-
tory. this will insure fairness in cases
where there are gross errors or
questions in referees' decision.

Incidentally, during the prefight screening of stags, EVGBA will shoulder the Accomo-

day training in manila of the NFGB MATCHING SOFTWARE. he being the head of the
EVGBA matching comm. the EVGBA will shoulder his roundtrip ticket plus allowance.

Also, yours truly will represent the EVGBA during the NFGB GEN. MEMBERSHIP MEET-
ING. fare and accomodations will be shouldered by NFGB minus the allowance, hehe.

Hello from sunny California. I miss my farm and my Filipino friends but my business there is not yet taken care of. When my attorneys have finished their job I will return. It is good to get home and visit with my friends here and see my grandkids now for the first time in 9 months.

One day you will watch a good cockfight and wonder where the bird came from. Look around, you may see my face smiling back at you.

My health is good and the weather here is so much milder.

I took down the Ricefield Farm website and hear that my ex in-laws are having trouble making the feed bill. I always ran the farm for fun, not profit; it lost money, sometimes a great deal of it.

If anyone is willing to seceretly go to my farm and buy some choice banded stags I will fund my own entry, the cost of the stags and I will pay travel costs, feeding costs and a percentage if the entry wins money over my costs.

very good health and the "sabungero" blood still running in your veins.

you are right. your ex's are having a hard time funding the farm. last i heard is that
they are disposing of the brood fowls too. it is really not peanuts to maintain such a
big farm. i will try to find out (text msg...that is if their cp's have some load, haha)
if there are banded stags on cord already. i just hope that they are still in good health
and condition and taken cared of. lets jst keep our fingers crossed.

the stagfest will be on the 15th of sept and then again on the 28th and 29th. as for the
nfgb (bakbakan) the elims will be here in ormoc on the 3rd of November.

I haven't heard of them having any money to fight since I left. I am surprised, I thought people would line up to finance them. I am sure my very expensive vaccination program will go out the window.

I can't imagine they would be ignorant enough to sell even one head of the broodstock. I have more than 100,000 pesos in at least 9 trios; total 900,000.

The other 450 head i can understand as they are hurting for cash, not only to feed the chickens but to exist themselves. I think they are just now realizing how much it costs to run the operation. I also housed, fed, clothed and educated the entire extended family and a good number of barrio neighbors.

STAG DERBY RULES (CONTINUATION)


8.) STAG IN BAD SHAPE (GROUNDS FOR DISCONTINUATION OF THE FIGHT)

A stag is considered to be in bad shape under the following conditions:

8.a Limping ("kingking")

8.a.1 1st time - The fight is rescheduled and the stag is compulsory reheeled after 7 fights.

8.a.2 2nd time - The fight is rescheduled and the stag is compulsory reheeled after 5 fights. The stags will be reheeled inside the arena for the last time. The stags shall be fought limping or not limping

8.b Showing signs of refusing to fight or signs of refusing to show.

8.c Refusing to fight.

8.d Showing signs of intoxication or the presence of illness.

8.e Stag is wounded accidentally before or upon release prior to the engagement of both stags.However, if both stags engaged each other on a single pass, the fight shall continue until a winner is declared.

8.f Stag refuses to fight after release. However, if the stags engaged each other in a single pass and one quits, the carreo shall push through wounded or not wounded.

A committee will be created to determine the validity of the signs exhibited by the particular stag.

Under conditions 8.b 8.c 8.d 8.e and 8.f , an entry is entitled to change stag of the same weight or within the allowable weight limits after a decison is made by the committee. The fight is rescheduled after 5 fights. In case there is failure to come up with a repalcement stag, EVGBA wil provide the replacement stag after (2) hours grace period.

Yes what concerned me most is the issue of your broodstocks, they can sell everything but not them and actually IF I knew it beforehand that broodstocks were included as well, I could have been the number one candidate to buy ALL original brood cocks and brood hens as for sure, they were priced at not even a SALE PRICE but just like giving them away. In that case, the damage is done and cannot be undone!

Maayong gabii EVGBAns, had a trip today to CSCC Pres. bai Elson's JEDVA Farm in Dalaguete, Cebu. A 4-hr round trip to the south of Cebu was worthwhile as aside from seeing the show of stags from bai Elson, bai Cordzali, bai Irvin and bai Onie(through Captain Ebb Olandia), I was able to choose additional 2 bullstags to boost up the CSCC line up for our next EVGBA 4-Cock Derby 2008. Yes, the other day, I recieved a call from Dr. Villegas of Villegas Farm, Matag-ob Leyte inquiring the dates of our stag derbies. Same was relayed to him which he promised to have an entry or entries each Sept. 15 3-Stag, Sept. 28-29 4-Stag.
