    seminole

    JUAN,

I purchased a Leiper broodcock from Scot (Seminole) and have talked with him on several occasions.... He was honest and sold
me a really nice cock... His Sweater - Leipers have been successful in some tough pits to include Springbrook... I have heard good things about his Cardinals as well... I traveled to his farm and purchased my broodcock. This rooster was in really good shape, beautiful, gentle as a baby and spares with impressive speed, power and very smart side stepping side hitting style...

jargue & kelker thanks for the info

yup! my brother got two from seminole sometimes in may
2000. both according to them are gaff winner. one cecil
davies kelso and the other one is cardinal kelso.

one of them with white tail streamer which may be the cecil
and the other one i believe is the cardinal kelso. will have to
check the leg band and will confirm with them which one is
    which.

i have not given much attention on these fowls but now they
getting old i guess i need to lend them a little tender loving
    care.

they told my brother though that their cardinal kelso came
    direct from loyce derouen.

old pics take few months after their arrival. will take new after molting

More than likely, the kelso with the white streamer is a Sweater and you could probably fight either the Cardinal or the Sweater in the LK. Cardinals are aggressive and can cut you down fast... A Sweater needs no introduction in the LK.

My guess would be that the white streamer is the cardinal which I have seen. My cecil davis were ordered direct from Cecil in early 80's and have never come with the streamer. Just my 2 cents

I have seen the sweaters on this farm during my visit and some had white streamers.. His web page also states that the sweaters come with white streamers... Go to his web page and read for yourself...

They are definately Kelsos, no sweater in the pics above. The top is a Cecil Davis wine red Kelso and the bottom is a lighter colored hackle Cardinal Club Kelso.
Kelker you are right his Sweaters do also come with the streamer. The streamer in all American breeds as told to me is said to originate from the whitehackle blood.

Seminole has two bloodlines from Cecil Davis. I copied the following description from his web page, so you be the judge..

" My Cecil Davis Kelsos are some of the best I own. I have two distinct families: the pea-combed family I call Sweaters (that is what Cecil referred to them as) and my straight-combed family. My Sweaters will come light and dark, yellow legged and have white streamers in their tail. They are the gamest family I own and have lots of bottom. They cross well with anything and add a lot of fire to any breed. You may whip one of these birds, but you will definitely have to kill him to do it. No one has a family possessing more gameness or hatred for another rooster.
My straight-combed family is high stationed, long legged and dead game. They come light and dark with white streamers in their tail and are heavy plumaged. They like to fight head high and will very seldom let another rooster cross over top of them. These chickens will put a lot of leg on you. Their best asset is their cutting ability. I prefer to fight this family of Kelso in the long knife due to their style."

Had a guy here on Guam that won some derbies with his kelso's(sweaters). If I'm not mistaken his name was Mr. J.Aguon. He dominated the pits for a while with Seminoles birds!
