You can cross it to another agressive, fast fowl with similar fighting style. Also you can cross it to smart fowls such as asil, jap etc.

    Comment by Mr. Boy Diaz

I think Mr. Boy Diaz said in the Jan 2005 WSD DVD that US breeders tend to avoid inter breeding black fowls with white legged fowls. He did not mention the reason why. So it's safe to say that a Brown Red / Hatch inter breeding would be ideal. Brownreds are known to lack gameness so I think you will be safe to cross them with hatches.

    brownred

Im currently breeding my brownreds with my YL hatch and the other with my albanys. My brownreds are very aggresive fighters with lots of power. So what im doing is breeding them to my albanys and hatches that have knows when to hit and that can break high.

I hope you find what your looking for.

    Good Luck!

Depends on the type of Black fowl you have . Just breed what you think is lacking in your Black fowl , Like any other blood you breed .

I like Mr. Diaz believed that My Blacks shouldnt be bred to any red Chickens for most of my life . I just didnt think they belonged no specific reason .

Until I got a Black cock and put him over some of my Red Mcrae hens just to see what I got .

Man the offspring from that mateing were unbelievable. I now have a pen of this cross every year . I also tried a Kelso cock over my Black hens last breeding season and the stags from that mateing are looking very good so far .

The key is to find what your Black fowl is lacking .ie. Bottom, smarts , etc. than find what you think will put the desired trates in them and breed em .

Dont worry about the color so much .

    Hope this Helps

    ALOHA,
    Richard

    gwapo,

dude i crossed my dark fowl (blueface hatch) to my white clarets. in my case i'd say a perfect one it's a speed and power of hatch mixed with the intelligence and cutting of my white clarets. I produced 10 roosters on my first batch 75% winning percentage and most of them are multiple winners now.

check their pix at my photo gallery if you have time. (lightning II and thunder are my favorites on that batch)

    good luck bro!

    BROWNRED/LACK OF GAMENESS?

I would say, it depend's on who's or what kind of brownred you got. Way back 1991, in BLYTH , Arizona my friend's DAD, I call him Uncle won it SOLO in a 12 COCK Long Knife DERBY using all a WINGATE BROWNRED direct from Larry Blevins. The name of the ENTRY is JANIMA. 11 Wins/ 1 Draw. One of the winner's went into the drag, another COCK had his intestine hanging, but he never quit. To all Visayan sabungero who know's Bobong Olario, he can tell you all of this, because he was the holder on all of the cock everytime they put the KNIFEE on.

    Just my little share.

I have been using Joe goode greys to cross with my blacks. Last year I tested Cecil davies hatches with my blacks and black greys. My stags won 2 chapionships in PCAP altuz entry

i am currently breeding two brownred hens to a lacy cock. i made this cross a couple of years ago, but only raised 3 roosters. all 3 of them are now living in p.i.'s. both sides of this cross are game by my standards.

Well I was up at Norlands in February and I got a Roundhead trio and a Pure BrownRed. I will be crossing them this coming year to see what they're like. When I was up at his place I tried buying a few of them but they were already spoken for. Norlands Ranch manager spoke really highly if them. So I guess we'll see what happens down the line.
