    Table Exercises

    Exercises help promote flexibility, strength, muscle toning and contouring and develop cardiovascular endurance of the fowl being conditioned. The rotation method is designed for this, but should you think that your fowl need more exercise aside from these, you may opt for table exercises.

    Abroad , especially in the U.S. cockers do the table exercises a lot more compared to cocks in the Philippines. Their table exercises go as high as 100 repetitions without undue damage since fowl in the U.S. are usually fought in the gaff, are bred and raised differently than ours, and their climate is different. In the country, our warm tropical is the main consideration since our weather here is already stressful for man and fowl. And certainly, we raise our fowl differently vis a vis our American counterparts. For slasher fighting, we must avoid getting the cocks muscle bound, so I employ very minimal table workouts. I still believe that scratching and sparring are the best methods of training a gamecock. I employ table routines only for stretching, handling and training of my gamecocks.

    For table exercises we need, of course the table. This should measure 2 feet by 4 feet and should stand about 3 feet above the ground or just below your waistline for easier manipulation of the fowl. Three (3) sides- the back and both side must be covered with solid wood 1 ˝- 2 feet high so that the cock will not try to leave the table while you’re training him. The whole tabletop must be covered with 2-inch thick foam to avoid injuries.

    Cover the foam with cloth or upholstery to lessen damage specially when the cock scratches.

    Place a 40-watt fluorescent lamp above the table to make the cock accustomed to light and also to prevent him from leaving the table. Have a stereo playing a rock concert or recorded sounds from the cockpit to make the cock familiar with noise. Position yourself facing the wider, open 4ft side of the table.

    When handling the fowl, use gloves made of soft material to avoid putting so much pressure on the feathers and at least prevent them from being ruffled.

    Do the table exercises at night or early in the morning, before daybreak, 2 to 3 hours before feeding time. By this time, the cocks must already be empty. Remember our scratch box procedure?

    First, take the cocks one by one and place them in the scratch boxes individually. After

    Scratching, take each cock to the table and do the routine: after the routine, place each cock in the scratch pen. Come feeding time, place them in the cord area.

    Now here are the exercises I use for the table workouts:



    Toss- from a position lower than the table and about 1 foot from the edge, toss or throw the cock towards the table to make him grab the edge and flap his wings to gain balance and stand. Toss again after he has gained control and stand comfortably. Start with 10 tosses for three days in a row to familiarize the cock. Then 15 for 2 days. Next 20 for another 2 days and 25 on the third. Reduce to 20 the following day, then 15, then 10again. There should be none on the last three days before the fight. Make sure that the cock grabs the edge of the edge of the table to maximize the stretching effects of the wings and leg muscles.
    Turn Over, place the cock on top of the table up-side down. Take away your hand and let him stand up erect all by himself. Do this 5 to 10 times per session. On the last three days before the fight, there should be no more turn overs. This exercise develops their wing and back muscles considerably.
    Flip, from an erect or standing position, flip the cock by placing your right hand on the rump at the base of the tail. With a flipping motion, lift the cock slightly from the table and push upwards to move him to a vertical position and release your hold. The cock should flap his wings and kick his feet out front to gain balance. On the first session, 10 flaps will do for familiarization Just follow the count as in the toss.
    Rub and Press, here massaging is incorporated with a warm down routine which tones the back and leg muscles. First rub the chest of the cock going to the keel up to the abdomen several times. Press the cocks back with the palm of your hand to make him bend down to the foam, then release. Do this only 5 times in each session.
    Massaging, to warm down further, place the cock on the table then place both hands under his wings with the cock facing away from you. With circular motions of the thumb, massage the pectoral muscles gently, going to the back and spine towards the base of the tail. Repeat several times. From the same starting position, rub down going to the breast area or keel.
    Give the cock a few spray of a fine mist of water after the whole process.

    excercise table

    you can also use an old upholstered(soft) sofa chair old car seat ,or mattress for flipping and flying excercises

    ganyan din ako pag pawis na bentilador style naman pag tuyo na ung pawis ko dun palang titigil ung manok kapapagaspas :lol:

    joke lang un baka gawin ng iba :lol:

    pero maganda yang table exercise na yan kailangan mo ng malambot na sapin para di gaanong kasakit sa manok natin

    marami pang excercise sa mga manok pero hinay hinay lang tayo baka maging hulk hogan ang mga manok natin at di na maganda un para sa kanila.

    ang training program dapat nag uumpisa
    sa mababang repetitions then pataas at
    pababa ulit na naka spread sa sampung
    araw. training curve ang tawag ng iba.
    gawin ito sa flip, flies, runs, incline board
    scratch.

    i design yun trianing program base sa
    kakayahan ng individual na manok.

    yun table work na design ni mike rafliff
    ay magandang basehan.

    you can also avail Coach's Conditioning Method in video and book forms........andoon lahat yung training using the work bench, medications....kumpleto na (scientific ang sistema nya)

    yung kay mike ratliff naman ay available din in book and video, meron din syang cocking school....ang approach nya naman ay natural.......mas marami kang matutunan.
