    yellow legged hatch

Hi Cockmates! I need information on yellow legged hatch. What is the bloodlines that made up the yellow legged hatch? What attributes does it have that a green legged hatch does not possess? What are some of the best crosses of YLH for the long knife? Would appreciate your advice. Thank you.

    Yellow Leg Hatch

I have come to know two types of Yellow Leg Hatch. To begin, the Yellow Leg McLean Hatch from the late Ray Hoskins, second, the authentic Stewarts that came from Doc Robinson. Though the two are refered as Yellow Leg Hatch they have little in common in their pedigrees.

From what I have been told by men who knew Ray, the Yellow Leg McLeans were out of Kearney Whitehackle and Boston Rounhead.

The only person I know that has the authentic Stewart is J. Medlin.

    yellow legged hatch

    cockmates,

i have with me a pure Ray Hoskin Yellow Legged hatch broodcock from someone who preserved it for more than 20 years. My question is do they really came in squirrel tail?

They are so powerful, fight with no bill-hold. Even my karachi hatches were no match when it comes to power.

    Your inputs please....thanks

    Squirrel tail

    KC44,

I have Ray's YLH and no they are not squirrel tailed. They are multiple shufflers and yes feet out no bill hold type. Mine are fine looking - small headed, chest proud and tight plumage.

    Vertical,

Squirrel tailed is not a trait of one breed. Some Rh's and GLH carry them. Mother nature does not descriminate.

Ray's YLH and Eugene's YLH are diferrent "ANIMALS". both are good but lineage is not the same.

    Squirrel and Shrimp

Only problem with a long shrimp tail is when the cock assumes a defensive posture and has to backpeddle, they sometimes trip backwards over their own tails.

I guess you just have to see the fighting style of the cocks as you spar them to make a decision.

I remember watching the WSC of January 2005 again recently and I saw a cock that assumed the defensive position on his ass......as as he backed up, he tripped over his tail and met his maker pretty quickly.

Asils are known for "spin a win" where they sit on their asses and throw accurate deliberate one stroke shots.....since their tails are normally shorter than average, they don't trip themselves up as often.

Just my two centavos for what thats worth.

    Warm Regards,

Apparently, the stuart ylh and the oakgroove hatches are one of the same. This is according to Eugene of Oakgroove!

In the Philippines, Peter Uy has got some collection of pure YLH. You can ask Emoy to confirm this!

I'm not an expert on YLH's but through my observations they are good gaff/short knife birds (Clarence Stewart line)...good powerful drillers and game to the core.....I seen them come from way behind and get the win on just pure desire and power hitting throughout the fight...only one thing about them is hard to find one that can be fought in the long knife.....style of fighting is they mostly break knee high.....to fignt in the LK they got to be crossed to other families....like to Leipers or Hatch Grey families that can break....my two cents on good YLH bloodline's

    Yellow Legged Hatches

Can I ask any of you GENTLEMEN COCKERS to post the pictures of your own line of Yellow Legged Hatches?

Tell us what they are, please. Im really getting confused what they shouls look like with all these strains being named YELLOW LEGGED HATCH - with having only a small percentage of that HATCH blood.

LET US SEE THE REAL THING. PLEASE
