I am interested in the richard bates black, can anyone tell me if there is any breeder in the USA who is selling his blacks. If possible can I get a contact number or email to get in contact with them.

these blacks of R.Bates are awesome..i saw them fought by PEPITO NGO in last PASAY ANNIVERSARY....
dong1967
correct me if im wrong...............i believe richard bates originated it in silang, cavite phil. during the late 80's using johnny jumper's 8 or 12 time winner black rooster that he crossed to his own line.....so MAYBE theres no one like this in the u.s.
RLB Black originated from what i know is, that 9-time winner black rooster came from Mayor Areng Poblete of Silang, Cavite which Mr. Bates borrowed and bred to almost 50 hens/pullets in his farm in Silang, Cavite.
I have a friend that wants to sell his Richard bates black trio for 25K. PM me if ur interested.
jlbs72...will he take a trade for a trio of manziel black, trio of
bootlegger brownred, trio of pierce wisconsin shufflers, trio of
bama blacks, trio of mcraes, trio of nigger roundheads, trio of
canadian mugs or a trio of tombstone brownred...?these are my black lines...
I heard from my friend in Bacolod, The black line of R. Bates came from Gerry Douglas?
sorry kogs... but the guy wants to just sell it.
Metal gear's info is what I also got from 2 good sources. I also heard that Mr. Bates will not tell you where he got them. Maybe the best person to ask is Mayor Poblete.
If my memory serves me right wildfoots brother knows the history of these blacks.
Bates Black of the 80's i think is already extinct.
anyone here who knows buddy "tisoy" fernandez, what i heard from him he is leaving and going to the states (middle of 90s)
buddy is the former farm help/breeder of mayor poblete.
Came from Aring Poblete.
Aring said that this cock defeated Richard 7 times. That black cock was purchased for $200 in the states from a backyard breeder. The cock was loaned to Richard and the rest is History.
I remember having breakfast with Richard once on the way home from the WSD, we met at Shell SShighway..He told me the story on the make up of those blacks ( almost the same as Aring with a different twist) but if Richard is not telling .......Im not telling either.
If Richard is right then his blacks should be the same as the stag below.

Wildfoot
Hotspring,
Lito will be back next week, he will see you next weekend.
just asked richard to read this thread. hope he posts his response to this thread.... yo, richard!
Hope he does because I would also like to ask about the composition of his Bates fowl in the early 80's.It's hatch looking(red peacomb green or blue legs).I have a few of them and they still win.
Sometimes my memory really serves me right. Thanks wildfoot. Is he really going home this weekend?
Again if I can remember it correctly someone told me its loaded with hatch blood thats why they are game. Don't remember if wildfoot's brother told me this one.
He will be home by next weekend.
All I remember is him saying that he tried to trace the blood in the States and he suspects that it is ............. I'll leave him to answer that one.
Wildfoot
wildfoot...you are taught from the old school of sabong..."listen
and close your mouth"...
Sir Wildfoot,
The stag that you've posted looks exactly the same as the fowl I've seen pitted by Col. Katy just can't remember which derby it was and a certain guy name Delfin A. who said to be a friend of Col. Katy, where in the handler confirmed that it was from Richard Bates... they really are awesome bird....Smart bird with lots of Power to spare.
I would rather let Richard reveal what he thinks it is......besides, wouldn't we rather hear it from the horses mouth. I dont want to second guess the man.
I suspect all this query relates to the one fought in the January 2006 WSD. I think there is a story about those birds fought in that derby as well. I heard they were all out of a five time winner broodcock.....Now this is third hand information.....my Kristo in Araneta scouts the entries and that is his story.......
renzmac,
They should look the same if Richard is as good as a breeder as me......hehehe. Kidding aside I have three types of blacks and this is one of them.
Wildfoot
wildfoot...i was only teasing you...i have not seen msterbates black but if they look like yours then i don't need to hear it from
the horses mouth...i like mine but yours is better...
kindly post mel sims contact # i have seen you post it here somewhere but i cant find it.... thank you very much
thank you very much sir
at one time in 1997 i have a workmate, he was a borther in law of RLB, for a while he don't know that i was into sabong when he found out i was, he introduced himself how he knows RLB, after the mutual conversation my brother with him in Silang, Cavite purchased about so many hens and a black hen was included, the original black hen died at natural causes, to date we have some breeds,,but the outsiders (magnanakaw) they are the only one who knows how they performed to the pit, :hippie:
