Boston Roundhead broodcock of Lancey De La Torre..

At the time when Patrick Antonio was winning with Lancey's fowls, he was then using a 13 yr old boston roundhead broodcock, which I guessed, has helped catapult the man from rags to riches.

From whose breeder did that b/r fowl come from?

    I don't think so.

The bostons came from Captain Sangrador of Iloilo. The Billy Abbott line from the Plazas are the lacys which I presume are Lacybrunner crosses. Same line with Roger Roberts Jimmy Williams line. My wild guess though.

    Lancey

I believe, Mr. Lancey was a former caretaker/handler of the Plaza's. Which I think he got the original Mr. Billy Abbott's hen.

I conditioned nearly two dozen fowls for the Plazas early this year and the Billy Abbot cock they showed me was green legged hatch looking fowl. From what they said it was the last of the said line. I still remember clearly what Randolph Plaza told me.He said,"this is the last of the Mohecans."

    Billy Abbott

From what I read and heard that Billy Abbott crossed the Lacy Rh and Brunner RH and this was confirmed by Morris of N.C. who at the time was Billy's financial partner. I have both lines and the Brunner Rh comes white and blue legs. Lanipao might have seen the blue green legged hatch looking Brunner RH (could be the last of the Mohecans and not to forget, the real McCoy). Interesting-Ed

The 13 yr old Boston RH broodcock that mansmith is talking about is actually yellow hackled, yellow or white legged (not too sure), spotted with whites, and has a splash of whites in tail and wing feathers... The photo of this bird i saw in a magazine several years back.

The problem with most beginners is that we really can't resist buying names... and most breeders would give you a name just for your happiness. The birds that PA acquired from Lancey that made him standout were mostly light red to dark red hackle ( not ponkan ) with white streamer. they usually come white legged or yellow legged. The white legged red hackle are the better performers in the pit.

Lancey's Billy Abbot Boston Roundheads are from D.O. Plaza.

I think, he also infuses some of his Boston Roundhead with his other roundhead the Regular Roundhead coz it has more better body conformations and are more accurate cutter.

It came from Paul Ranole Morris, watch the bakbakan interview of the man talking about the boston and Paul and lance have a very similar words about the boston,

Lance boston came from billy Abbott, lance obtained the cock from the plazas, but 20 years later, doesn't matter, it is lancey boston after all these years, where it originated from not important now.

Re: Boston Roundhead broodcock of Lancey De La Torre..

The best History on the Billy Abbott Boston Roundhead can be found on the Ronole Morris Thread 184.Redbreeder is Jack Stamey's Nephew and knows the whole story from beginning to end.He knew the Boston's that Mac White had also came from Ronole Morris. But ALL THE GOOD BOSTON ROUNDHEAD BLOOD THAT WE SEE TODAY IN MY OPINION ORIGINATED FROM THE [STAMEY'S] IN THE 1970'S.There are some old legendary Families still out there but the ones that are [TAKING HOME THE BLUE RIBBONS TODAY] all trace back to one SINGLE FAMILY.Jack,Ronole,Billy Abbot, they all were a tight knit group. They traveled all over the world together.I have seen many Photo's of the 3 of them together in Mexico,Central America,Etc.I hope Redbreeder will shed more light on this for us but I have been told this time and again by the Big Time Breeders.I have alway's loved GREEN LEGGED FOWL but these Roosters will [Change Your Mind] on how you see Pea Comb Fowl.Just my humble opinion after Extensive Research.Sincerely, RCR.........
