    ROUNDHEADS

LACY ROUNDHEAD was bred by Judge Ernest Lacy. These Roundheads are the most common Roundheads, without prejudice to its great fighting style.

They have the multiple shuffles and fancy elusive moves, and they mature early. They are just a little bit aggressive when stags, but style of fighting becomes fine when aged. Research say that they have a little oriental blood in them.

When Judge Ernest Lacy died, George Woods (his nephew) who is the only family member who is interested in game fowls, inherited the Lacy Roundheads. However, when the war broke out, his stocks were destroyed, leaving only a few breeding stocks, so he infused Albany/Claret in his bloodline and continued to propagate the strain. He only bred Lacy Roundheads and he never sells. (George Woods died July 2006)

Subsequently, Allen Hinds was fortunate enough to acquire the Lacy Roundhead from his good friend, George Woods. He does not fight his chickens, but only breeds them for commercial purposes. But, surely, his Lacy Roundheads are true to type and excellent slashers. (COCKFIGHTS MAGAZINE, issue no. 7, 2006)

COWAN ROUNDHEAD became famous in the hands of Junior Belt. He also never sells, but gives some to friends. Among those who had a chance to get the Junior Belt Cowan Roundhead Blood is Mayor Jesry Palmares.

This Roundhead is as rare as diamond in the Philippines. However, these fowls are built for the short knife. Thus, they are being crossed with the Kearny Whitehackle at 3/4 Kearny Whitehackle x 1/4 Cowan Roundhead proportion.

BRUNNER ROUNDHEADS are related to the Cowan Roundheads. They share similar bloodlines used in making their strain. Although, differences happen when they go to different breeders. To the COWAN ROUNDHEADS, it was JUNIOR BELT who made the biggest difference.

The Cowan Roundhead crosses are winning and also the Lacy Roundheads....

It's hard to determine which is the best among the three. It's a matter of preference. The best way to determine is to test them in knives. Just my thoughts.

    God bless.

There are some way to find out, acquire this 3 bloodline then cross them, then fight them. Thats what Im going to do this coming breeding season cross them with murphy or kearney whitehackle. Breed just a few and see it from there which ever cross give great result will be continued.

Names are not as important as who bred them and why.

Are the Cowans and Bruners offshots of the Alabama Roundheads? Just curious coz planning to get hold of some to cross to our Bostons.

i have only some small experience with the Bruners and I would take them up again as I liked what they offer. but the other fowl also have a lot to offer. its not what line but who you get them from that matters.

I liked the power and bottom that the Brunners I seen offered over other RHs, but the Lacys I've seen seemed like better sharp shooters and more like "pit generals" as I've heard some call them. If I ever seen a Cowan, I wasn't aware that's what it was. YFIS Nauvoo

I'm 100% sure you seen plenty up where you are from the Cowan or Alabama RH's. Light pea comb reds YL slender ones I had acted like a dirt dauber when they get riled up!

I don't doubt I seen a few but never heard the name much, always Lacy, Lacy, Lacy, n Brunner. At one time I had a bird said to be a Lacy, traded him up some way. Stepfather never cared for him, never had a bird could pull a plug out of your arm like that one could n he was relentless at biting you! First few times we sparred him, he would turn at you but after getting pummeled a few times, that behavior left. Ended up getting a handful of blue ribbons with him. Ring general, make the other bird look slow n stupid, like it was telegraphing every movement n he'd done be moved n hit back. Ended up breeding him after that n raised a few nice birds off a GW Lacy. I don't know now why I didn't try harder to raise more.

I like the cowans. A buddy gifted me a hen and I got a reverse trio from a good friend being 2 cocks and one hen. Which are the old Billy johnson blood and the hen is half that blood and half Nelson Uy blood which are superb chickens. Don't have any experience with lacy RH but I sure like the cowans.
