Plan ahead and stick to it. No sudden changes in their routine unless corrective. IMHO

    Re: Conditioning Ang Pointing...

    HI TOYBATZ,

During this period, I don't let them indulge in sex "baka maghina ang tuhod"
and if everything goes well I let them rest one week before the fight and
give them the necessary medication for extra energy and endurance
    especially during drag fight !!!

    Question Re: Conditioning Ang Pointing...

    Taken from another website!

The question was "what to do the last 12 hours before the fight - say the derby start at 6pm.
    Answers were:
    No water on fight day.
Since the derby starts at six, give half a teaspoon of point feed 6 a.m.
Take steps to hold him on point when he drops the dime size whitish dropping.

"Take steps to hold him on point when he drops the dime size whitish dropping."

    New Question:
Ok - what I need to know is what steps.?

We have where some give 3 drips of water -
Some a small piece babnana or apple or raizons.

We seem to be doing something wrong.
We give small feed consisting of Egg and Corn 12 hours before the fight.
The Last spar is great - however the Cocks dont look alert at fight time and performance is not the same quality as the spar.

    Any suggestions.....

    Re: Conditioning Ang Pointing...

First know your fowls if they can handle being empty or being empty for too long.try observe if they can take a two day black out i usually just give them one day black out because some fowls get coop stale if kept for too long.I don't touch them anymore five days before fight to give them allowance to recover from soreness due to training and so they can put back themselves together mentally and physically.I want them to build up energy those last five days not lose it by continually exercising them until tha last days before fight. Now last day before fight is the time we control their moistre.Remember,if we try give them less water it also slows down their digestion so thats why we cut their feed.I just give 30 grams in morning and afternoon from 40 grams of regular feed.On fight day i just give them 20 grams in the morning with about 2 to 3 sips of water.drop them at noon and obesrve droppings if they need more water or need more pellets if too wet.As far as i have experienced most fowls digest about 2 grams per hour so if you give them 20 grams at 6am they should be empty at 4pm.But since your derby starts at 6pm try to give them a little extra 2 to 4 grams to your 20 gram feed in the morning.Or you can try to hold their point from 4 pm to 6 pm by giving pointing feed.its all up to you.But i want my birds to be empty just before fight.this way you know their peak is still going uphill not trying to hold them hoping they would not go over.If their fight is still too far i count the number of fights per hour to make an estimate of what time they are going to fight.Say they are already empty at 6pm and derby starts at 6 pm also and their fight number is 50.if you observe that there are ten fights per hour in that particular derby so fight number 50 would be about 11pm.so i give them another 10 grams and probably 1 to 2 sips or none depending on their droppings and feel.By 11 pm the bird should be empty, ready and fresh.Your birds probably went off by holding their point for too long.

    Question Re: Conditioning Ang Pointing...

Sorry to trouble you however after much time and effort goes into Breeding and caring for the Fowl we want to get this Correct.

    There is a advice:-
"As far as holding the point, within the hour that they dropped the dime size whitish dropping "

Now I have read this dime dropping should be
    1. Soft and if thrown would "stick to a wall"
    2. Watery - and flat
    3. Roundish - with a bit of :green colour" to it?

    Again appreciate your assistance...

    Question Conditioning Ang Pointing...

We also have trouble with the last 24 hours before a "SHOW".
    We are doing something wrong!
The last spar is 5 days before the fxxxt is good and we are sure if the Cocks fxxxt like they spar we will have a good showing/performance.

Ok can we talk about food and the reasons why and when it used.

Conditioning Pellets, Grain, = Body conformation, Strength, Power.
Jockey Oats, Corn = Body confirmation, Strength, Power
    Liver, B12 Injectable/Oral = Vitamins
    Egg = ??
    Banana/Apple = ?? Moisture Control?/

    Please add or correct.

    Re: Conditioning Ang Pointing...

nice thread. here's some that maybe of help from other thread . . .

when the rooster is emptying out, the 1st thing he ****s are the green stuff, the digested feed. next comes the smelly chocolatey stuff, shich are called the cecal droppings. by this time, much of the feed have already moved out and the tail end of the remaining stuff are in the cecum. when this is all dumped out, the next type of chicken **** that comes out are the urate droppings and ideally, when these small melted vanilla icecream looking **** comes out, you should be on the rueda already. he's at his peak. on point. much later after this is the eggwhite looking moisturedroppings. assuming he was fed well, his legs should be normal warm during the green **** stage. when the chocolate **** coms out, the coldness starts from the toes going up. when the urate droppings come out, the coldness goes all the way to the knees. when the moisture droppings come out, he will already be throwing out his very own body fluids, so he is already off, and the coldness will be replaced by naturally a fever, muchmuch warmer than normal. my confidence level s at its highest when i see these signs when limbering. and lowest when i see those moisture droppings and fel the feverish feet.

    Re: Conditioning Ang Pointing...

some of them have reached the stage
where they showed the sign of moisture droppings
but unfortunately------they were not mentally prepared for battle

some of them still passing out green stuffs
yet were already mentally prepared to kill

    it ain`t in the stool
but rather in the mental part
    that dictates,arouse,drives them -----
showing signs-----they are really ready to clash

pointing is a guessing game...your best choice to know if they are on point is...taste their
droppings...if it is sour...you're not there yet...you are on point when they are sweet... if it
    is bitter...pray your hail mary's 10 times...

Talking about mentally prepared cocks.By the time you get called to drop them before weighing, we notice that they make cautious stance as you go around them inside the limber six feet away. They are calm but yet they follow the teaser cock with that particular stance as you go around like they are ready to fire when that teaser cock gets closer to them.Merry Christmas to all!

I think cocks must be prepared mentally and physically, and empty too, to be at their BEST upon release.

Hello my fellow cocker all the talk about moisture control diming out is all true but just keep in mind that all chickens r different some perform better with point some perform better with food etc. However u decide to point to feed try it before u fight it and just observe. And if u have any helpful tip on breeding and conditioning feel free to write me.

    Re: Conditioning And Pointing...

Let them sparr early morning when they're fully empty. In that way, you would know if in that state, they do good.
