    Re: Allen Roundhead breeders

This is the history of my Allan Rh by Irishcutt to me....

The Allens have been in our family for along long time. My dad got the first ones from O.L. Ashworth of Georgia. As good as any roundhead fowl around. They were supposed to be of the Cripple Tony family of Allens.

The Allens are very smart and deadly cutting fowl. Later on, years later in the seventies after we had moved home, I was working on our cockhouse roof when an old man drove up and asked me if I knew Ben Taylor. I told him you found him, and there is the other one on the porch, (my dad). Well he parked his car and went to talk to my dad. In about 20 minutes my dad called me over and asked me if I wanted to feed a show of roosters for Mr. Hudson. I agreed and he asked us to come over on Sunday and pick them up. Well we went to his home and he showed us some of the best looking roundheads Id seen in along time and you could see they were exactly like ours. I asked him what where they and he said they were probably the purest Allens in existence today. He was from Mississippi and had moved up here about six months ago. He had heard about us and wanted to meet us. Then decided he wanted to fight a few of his fowl to make sure they were still good fowl. Let me tell ya Matt them Allens were as good and game as any fowl Id ever fed or handled. We dint win the derby that day but went 5 and 3 in two entries of the five cock derby. To top it off Mr. Hudson dint even come to watch his fowl fight but had gave us the entry fee. Later on when we took the remaining fowl to back to him and sat around shooting the bull with him he just asked us what we thought of them. Both me and my dad said they were good fowl and anyone would be proud to own them. He then asked us to come over to his pens and in one of them was a cock and 5 hens. He told me to go in there and catch them. I asked him if he wanted to put them on the other side of his property and he smiled and said I want to put them in your brood pens. You can have this yard if you want them. Man dad and I really felt good about them and offered to pay him for them but he said he had heard what honest folks we were and trusted us with his fowl to maintain them. And that is exactly what we have done with them Of course I have crossed them with our original allens. And that's about as close to a history as I can give on the Allens' in our family. You could say as of this date we have Allen roundheads for over 50 years. Matt these Allens are as good as any you can get your hands on. Of course there may be as good a family of Allens out there but I haven't seen 'em.. These allens are pretty darn good fowl and should make a cross cut better for the knife. Take care my friend. YF>>>Butch

    Hope this helps

    Cheers

Thumbs up Re: Allen Roundhead breeders

Folk's, Matt posted an excellent bit of truth concerning a particular Allen Breeder.

I have had Gamefowl for many years. In my opinion, Butch Taylor "AKA" Irishcutt has one of the finest and purest lines of Allen Blood in the U.S. today. They have a great history, which I believe tell's the future of Mr. Taylor's fowl. He is a good honest and solid breeder of the line's of fowl, that have been in his family for many many decades.

If I get Allen Blood it will be from Mr. Taylor.

    Respectfully:

I am not sure what we will be using in the CVBA stag derby as CVBA would not come to my house to band any for CVBA as I din't have many that were Dec/Jan Born and the majority were 2 young. The guy banding said he was 2 busy to come to my house as I only contacted him 1 hr before he Left Dumaguete and I would have to go to him to be banded, I was also busy that afternoon so could not chase around after him, Victor told me I would have to fight my Bakbakan banded to enter with my breeding and many others were in the samesituation as me, Shame as the ones I had Dec/Jan Born were rejected by Bakbakan so I am still deciding what I will do.

The Allans and some crosses are banded for bakbakan and I hope to be showing them in this derby.

Pare, is this the Allen Roundhead that you told me about? I think it has similarity with the Lundy Roundhead that I sent you. The head and body conformation looks the same the only difference is the shade, yours is a little lighter in color.
I'm positive that it will be a good combination. Like what you told me Allen and Lundy are good friends, they share fowls and fight together.

    Goodluck on your breeding.
