    Mule Train Hatch

What are the characteristics of this fowl, who the originator was and where we can get the good ones. Saw a pic of Gerald Allen's grandson holding a c**k in a Gamecock magazine, and man, what a beautiful bird. Any inputs/pics will be much appreciated

the only thing I've ever heard about muletrains were that there were some from Hickory that hit so hard they broke their own legs. I don't know how true that story is but that's what I was told.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If that is true, they can really whip! I think they might be good for infusion for LK, that is if you can get your hands on one. Any more infos guys.....

    trident,

Try the search button and type Lonnie Harper. I think he is the owner of the Mule Train entry. There are two threads that's going to show up, one is sunset derby and the other about odom.

interviewed him a while back, and he said his hatches are the old bates hatch. basically he breeds greysm the old martin odom greys, and the bates hatch. he got recently some sweater from gene batia and crossed it to his hatch-greys. super strong, his pures or crosses.

So it might still boil down to the great Bates hatch blood. Does anybody here have a contact # of Mr. Lonnie Harper. Thanks guys for the inputs, keep it coming please....YFIS, Ben

yes, i know for a fact that Lonnie has the old Bates Hatch but, he also has some Blue Face Hatch. I received two pairs of the Bates about 14 years ago from Lonnie but, I already had the Richard Bates Hatch from Mr. Bates himself, the two crossed, have made the best Hatch roosters i have ever seen. I'm very proud to own them.

If you have any questions about these fowl you can ask Richard himself or I will be glad to answer any questions you may have.

    Hi Bif Tex,

I have some Blueface hatch which I was told came from Lonnie Harper. I like them a lot but they are becoming inbred. Do you have his contact number? I'd like to get some birds from him to freshen the blood. By the way, do you know the history of his Blueface? Thanks for any help you may extend.

    Re: Mule Train Hatch

Mule Train from Lonny are well know for their hatch/greys crosses. I got some Mule Train Greys crossed over some Jeff Pierce blacks that will be trying out very soon this year. Good cutters, hit hard and crazy game.
