    Interesting!

I have GLH broodhens with the original Blackwater wb and was told that they are McLeans. I have both Gilmores and McLeans and the offsprings' fighting ability definitely indicate that they're McLeans. Based on my observation, McLeans can be fought pure while Gilmores need infusion. Hmmm.....

Yes. I believe they're brother-in-laws and Gilmore got his birds from McLean. I could be mistaken.

when i first saw carol`s fowl
it was 1991 in araneta coliseum
sir danding`s entry used to fight them green legged hatch fowl
at that time the ram tough hatch entry of carol were winning with uegene brown of aokgrove gamefarm
oakgrove gamefarm has blackred colored hatch
eugene is closely acquainted with doc robinson.......him being the family doctor
must be a doc robinson hatch they have
because doc hatch are dark red

Our pure Gilmore hatches mostly have Blackwater blood in them.

i agree... i just got my blackwater gilmore last year and i wanst able to fight his sons this stag season. but we tested 2 full brothers against each other in the farm using 1 inch knife, we conditioned them and even pointed them like we were joining a derby. really good cutters, with speed, power and lots of feet. most importantly.. they are hell "GAME"!!!

the thing is im afraid to fight them with 50% blood because of their fighting style. not fit for our long knife. maybe 1/4 blood of it will be the maximum. unlike some family of hatches where we can fight pure.

    Regards,

Gilmores is an upgraded versions of McLean hatch, but they fight a little bit differently that is according to the present breeders taste. They are nicely built green legged hatches...and probably the most beautiful hatch line in the present day cocking world. But as NeSmith and Burnett said...only 1/4 blood is needed to produce a winning fighting machines in the slasher competitions.

SK or the naked heel for that matter. Gilmores can cut and are dead game. I currently have Dink Possum x Gilmores at 50-50 and I still think I need to shave some of the Gilmores off. I'm currently breeding one of them right now to some Dink Kelso and I can't wait what the next generation would be.

    pre...........mind asking
why you are bringing down the gilmore blood to a quarter?
    too aggressive?too much close fighters?

Well gameness is their biggest asset and not to mention their intellectual capabilities but I'm simply decreasing the ratio based on my own personal fighting style preference. I just notice that it needed a tad-bit more breaking ability.

Yes, we do have some excellent GLH.......IMHO. I was just thinking of getting a few hens from Chris to experiment with.....Our GLH are a combination of McLean, Gilmore, Hi-Action and Rubles now set as three different strains.

I also have one pen with Robinhood GLH that I aquired from Scott Ellis of Kentucky a couple of years ago. We showed 4 stags from this pen this season and 3 of them won. We really like their fighting style and I plan on breeding some of the Robinhoods to our existing Barrabas GLH.

I really love GLH and admire their gameness and power.......only problem with them is that they like to mix it up so much that they rarely come of a slasher fight unscratched due to their fighting styles!

    Warm Regards,
although it is our same breeding problem with our own hatch bloodline
    and their crosses
always severely damage when they win
we are still happy with the results
    a win is a win

but if they can win with minor damage
and can be use to next fights
we would surely be more happy

    jon..........for the meantime
    we should be satisfied
    with our winning hatch.........DISPOSABLE LINE
    hehehe........they are like condoms
    only for single use

Gilmore Hatch (Green Legs) from Chris Nesmith are great birds with a lot of cut. We have fought them pure, but, cross well with Roundhead and Sweater.

I think i read or heard it somewhere that the Gilmores have drop of Doc hatch and the deep dark red color is because of the Doc in them. Can't remember where i got that so these makes what i say as just hearsay.

Am referring to just the Blackwater Gilmores.
