I live here in Alabama, but never heard of the Black Alabama. I know lots of cockers here and have been messing and around cockers for a while. I feed and train with a guy who is personal friends with Bruce Barnett and Slick lizzard farm, and showed with Carol Nesmith before he got sent off. Ill ask him and see what he has to say about them for ya.

Bout the best Black blood I've ever seen fought was some Bonanza black blood. This was some awesome blood, although I've seen some that wasn't that great. I currently have some stags that are half the old black shuffler blood and half Blueface. We'll see what they do next year.

    Hello Mr. Butler,
I am not from the great state of AL but I do have lots of friends from Fyffe all the way down to Birmingham.

Regards to all the cockers down South.

Yeah I feed and train with a guy who used to fight with Carol Nesmith under Oakgrove Gamefarm. He is Chuck Landers and Steve Landers do you know any of them. He is good friends with Bruce and also Slick Lizzard. So of course I mostly raise Sweater blood. I have a pure trio of the old Possum blood and I have a trio of Bruces blood also. I have access to bought all the great blood these two had or offer. Do you know Brian White?

I have friends that have just visited your area from my neck of the woods. In fact, they've brought birds home from said breeders. Kindly check your PM box soon.

I would believe that if you attend Poultry Shows that you would know some of them.
But, I think that it won't be wise to broadcast their names on this board and expose their identities. ;-) if you know what I mean.

    Re: Black Alabama

I apologize Sir D. Butler, I thought you were the famous Butler whom my friend used to go there almost every year to go fishing at his farm and have some private shows with his famous oriental battlecrosses. Not too sure which state though. He knows most of the breeders and good friends of his too. I'll check with my friend and find out how he's doing lately.

    Re: Black Alabama

Thanks to all your reply guys. The reason why am asking about this breed because a friend of mine gave me his original blue miner pullet. Though its already old (more than 3 years old) but still it lays eggs. This pullet is from his uncle who was a close buddy of Bruce Barnett. When his uncle went on vacation to PI 4 years back, Bruce gave him 3 dozens of eggs. Out of 36 eggs only 5 hatched. 3 males and 2 females. The 3 males looked all the same - Black colored with white feet while the females are miner blue with white feet. The miner blue was crossed with another line and produced stags with the same color as their brother but now with white and yellow feet. When my friend asked his uncle he was told that Bruce crossed a Blue Miner cock with a Black Alabama pullet.

The 3 males won 3 times each in derbies while the offspring of the blue miner sister which are also black colored with white or yellow feet all won in fights. No loss but with draws.

Like the guy from Alabama, and being a subscriber to the Gamecock magazine for I think ten or more years now, I'll also say that I never heard nor came across this bloodline. Just recently though, Alabama Reds & Alabama Greys were being offered by I think a certain "Odom".
