    Waterloo,

I never read your PM, baka di pumasok. About the availability of the Lacy, please call Rob na lang.

About your question. Hereīs the story of the Phoenixfirebird Lacy and Boston Roundheads.

Our Roundheads were originally obtained from Herman Pinnon directly in the 80īs. They are orange colored, throws both white and yellow legged peacomb birds. We straight-bred the white legged and really bred them pure, they are what we call now as the Phoenixfirebird Lacyīs. Our winningest line and flagship.

On the other hand, the ones that came yellow-legged, we bred them to Bostons such as those of Jay Sonza and this is what we call the Phoenixfirebird Boston RHīs nowadays. They are full-bodied, excellent and beautiful looking birds. They also cross well with HPīs YLHīs.

    Hope this help.

    Regards!

    nakamichi,

authentic butchers are small to medium stations lang. pag meron nagbenta sayo na butcher na high-station yun malamang ay crossed na.

we prefer that you visit the farm so you can select the stocks directly. We usually deliver for regular customers. For first time customers, we encourage them to visit the farm to pick whatever stocks na magustuhan.

    Regards!

The Phoenixfirebird Ruble hatch originated from Hits-a-lot gamefarm in California. It is actually a strain of Dee Cox (i.e. Gerrard Hatch) and Ruble hatch. As you know, both Gerrard hatch and Ruble hatch have a strong McClean influence in them.

A little bit of history, Ed Gerrard hatches also known as Biloxi Hatch, Spangle Hatch, Speck Hatch, Little Ed's, and originally they were even called McLean's. Because indeed, the base blood is a McLean Hatch, that was bred and fought by Harold Brown at the old Biloxi Pit. Ed bred this cock to a Morgan Whitehackle hen that he got from Frank Hooks. The color of the Gerrard fowl can be varied from one breeder to another. Some can be straight comb, others look like dark leg Roundheads. The cocks will stand out in any group, as they are tall, long legged fowl. Colors of this family can range for cock, from black breasted reds, some of these have white specks in the breast, and on other parts of the body. Most of the leg color is green or dark legged, lots of them look like long legged Lacy Roundheads. The hens have many color variations from dark spangle to a wheaten color, with green or dark legs and a Roundhead type of body. On the other hand, the Billy Ruble hatch - are sleek looking and lemon hackle, red in color. Most were peacombed and green-legged. According to Billy, they were ū Hatch (Mclean & Blueface), 1/8 Whitehackle and 1/8 Claret (exactly what they fought in 1966 international derby).

About the Gavilan. I do not specifically know the history of the Gavilan and I donīt want to lie and invent a story, but what I know is that they are hard-hitters and really game birds. Actually, our Gavilanīs came from a good friend and fellow-breeder Mr. Ben Rara of the famed BARFARM. We fought these Gavilan in the LGBA derbies and Rob saw their potentials and decided to breed them.

I believe that crossing the Dee-Cox Ruble to the Gavilan will produce excellent hard-hitting, blue or green legged birds. Nicking is a question of luck. Breeding the nick is a question of Science. For me, breeding is the art of perpetuating the nick of nature.

    I hope this help.

    Regards!

Sir thanks for the info. Tnx.

Tnx.

We acquired the Sheryl Peny hatch from a breeder-friend in California. According to the original stocks came from Ron Dale before he died.

I donīt want to lie about their winning percentage because, I never fought them myself. Rob is a hatch lover and Iīm sure he can give you insights if you ask him directly.

About breeding with the Dan Gray, again itīs a matter of luck. I am a purist when it comes to Roundheads, I want to maintain their purity because I want to maintain them smart and elusive. In my personal experience with crossing them, I saw that sometimes you get a mix fighting style of a semi-elusive-aggressive cross which in my opinion doesnīt give me the edge of predicting their actual fighting style. Let me share you my thoughts about fighting, again it is just my opinion base on what Iīve noticed:

    - Elusive-smart, with good cutting birds (i.e. Roundheads) has a higher winning percentage when fought over an agressive-go-for-the-kill birds (i.e. Blacks).

In an ulutan, if I have an RH with me, Iīll look for black opponent. But when I have a black, I look for other off-colors like grey.

Again, itīs a matter of personal preference. Thatīs the beauty of sabong. Nobody can really tell the outcome. Always remember that nick only comes when you experiment. Please share with us the output of your Dan-grey Peny hatch cross, because Iīve never personally tried it.

    Good luck!

    Regards!

Yes. Lemon-gavilan are one of the common crosses of Mang Ben.

    Good luck with him.

Tip, dry-pointing po ang mga Gavilan.

    Jacklord,

Ikaw pala isa sa nakakuha ng white hackles. Eto rin ang suggestion ko sayo, cross mo yang winner butcher mo sa white hackle hen mo. Yan din gagawin namin this breeding season and we will call this strain Whackers or White Hackle - Butchers.

    Anyway, my personal breeding opinion:

WHACKERS - White Hackle (gameness) / Butcher (speed and power)
White Hackle / Black Phoenix - White Hackle (gameness) / Black (speed, aerial assault)
White Hackle / Lacy - White Hackle (gameness) / Lacy (smartness, cutting)

More power to your breeding and Iīm happy that you are satisfied as well as your customers with your produce.

    Regards!

I donīt see why not. I believe Biboyīs Kelso are JJīs. It will add station to your butcher.

For me, fighting style of butcher is complete, itīs just that they are usually small for the derbies. So if you add Kelso, Iīm sure youīll produce better stationed birds.

    Regards!

    Eiffel,

When I started breeding, almost 25 years ago, I started-of crossing the multi-winner Butcher BC of our grandpa with Sue Wilson YLH hatches. Those where probably the best battle cross Iīve ever produced. They produce deliberate, hard-hitting, fast, and really accurate birds. Iīll probably ask Rob to continue doing this cross this season. Thanks for reminding about this superb cross.

    Regards!
