    Pens & Tee Pee's in the P.I.

In Mexico Tee Pee's can be purchaced really inexpencively, these are nice...

    http://www.angelfire.com/ak4/aquamax/combate.html

    These are nice too...

    http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2...ff/TeePees.jpg

Does anyone in the P.I. make this type? Or, is the used tire shelter about all you can buy ( how much are they anyway? ). I like the cement Tee Pee's ( they are just heavy )... what is the approximate cost in makeing those?

Down in Mexico they also make some nice pens that will fold up... they have doors and you can get 3 different sized I think... is anyone in the P.I. building something like that?

    Just info gathering LOL!

I like this one too.....in P.I. they can do whatever you want no problem........if you have the measurements or a picture the better........

labor is inexpensive.....and workmanship is of very good quality..............

Im pretty sure theres alot of people around the area where you will stay at that will know how to build these concrete teepees. Just show the green and the demensions u want n let them work. lol ......... You can also use bamboo teepees which is way less expensive but not durable. You can get around 50 teepees of bamboo for 30 dollars maybe. good luck sir

I'm not real fond of building stuff that doesn't last... I was taught to do it right the first time... but... labor is cheap!

slipspur, the advantage where your going is the bamboo is not permanent, unlike concrete tepees, you can change your tie cord area every yr, less permanet the better (except for cockhouse area). bacteria is always a problem in the pi, if you can move your breeding area, tiecords every yr, after a season or so, you can burn the tiecords & build new ones. the key for you is too adapt to the pi from the states, this includes everything, even fighting style of your fowl maybe, plenty of acknowledge breeders in negros to listen too. i was force to build cement tepees, lack of area, unable to move them each yr, monthly for me necessary to dissinfect the farms.

slip, I'm thinkin James Wolf may be offering some very sound advice about this rotating of areas stuff. We may not realize the battle with bacteria that our pinoy bros. fully understand. The Phils are a world away from what we are used to.

the philppines gets pretty hot, especially in may & june, i wouldn't advise tin, stay with natural materials, the cockhouse is where your going to spend your money, don't spare the expense, always remembering you can't let the weather stop you from conditioning, we can get alot of rain & plenty of typhoons in some areas, you want your cockhouse to also include an to spar, flypens, scratch boxes, etc ...
when you layout yr farm, keep in mind you will need multiple range areas, you don't want to use the same range area ever yr (you will also need one farm worker devoted to the range & chicks), always keep in mind what is the best way to control the bacteria, use your tie cords 1 yr then burn, move your breeding area every yr, etc. look for farm that has hills, so the rain water will remove alot of your bacteria, etc

Thanks James, I know just enough to know that I don't know anything! Your advice is the same as I'm getting from Jim so I know it's good!

Once again some exellent advice... here in Oklahoma we get the full Monty as far as weather goes... summers can get to 110... winters can get below 0... winds in access of 50 mhp sustained all day are common... snow, drought, torrential rains, tornado's, hail the size of hens eggs... sometimes all in the same day!!! LOL!
    Thanks James!

For a permanent setup you can use a concrete tp & for a portable one that's easy to transport just use the outside covering of the coconut tree (bark) co'z it's free..

This is my 2'X4' tee pee in P.I.
Bought it 400 pesos each, less than $10 and less than the amount that I spend on making my own tee-pee with cement with labor. I like cement tee-pee cause will last a lifetime.
Bought these Tee Pee's in San Nicholas, Ilocos Norte:

Re: Pens & Tee Pee's in the P.I.

These I made of wood in P.I. It never lasted than three years. The Flying pen on the far right I bought already made plastic coated Fly Pens for 1200 pesos in Manila, I believe it was 5'high. Its a good deal cause it lasts a long time too. What I noticed that wood don't last to long in PI.
Pics of my wooden Tee Pee in the other side of my farm that never last:

Nice Tee Pee's and very smart design cause it save more on cement and gives more shelter to the birds from the rain, strong winds and typhoon etc.

I seen this type of teepees but i dnt get the reason of using this type because it only covers the fron n back side of the fowl since the ring is so narrow and the hole is so big.. atleast with the triangular teepees the fowl is some what dry inside......
