Andres and Andy Huron's Lemons have a lot of Murphy blood in them, They have maintained the color and a lot of the characteristics of the Murphy blood. His birds are real game, aggressive, very strong, can cut, break high and are are smart.

A buddy of mine down in Texas has some damn good Murphy Whitehackles... 2 familes that were at one time the same... way back a green leg popped out & this was prepetuated into a sub- family... each side is great, but when he blends the 2 back together they are awesome! It's a derned shame he won't let me have some LOL!!!

Maybe you just have to get to know him better, because sometimes the best birds are acquired through friendships and I've seen it happen many many times!

Richard Kelley, is famous for his Murphy's Whitehackles, he got them from Mr Smith a 91 Year old cocker who got them I think in 1939 direct from Murphy.

He doesn't sell them to any body in the US.

We used to have some Murphy fowl of Bob Howard's bloodlines. They were a solid family of fowl that I thought were some of the hardest trying birds there were. If you could find someone with this blood and they've kept them right through the years - they will do a lot of good to your program.

    just my two cents ..

i have a friend in p.i. who got the bob howard murphy's and kelso's through ecj...although he kept them pure as recieved...they don't perform as good as they they were 15-20 years ago...i infused them with my flynt cobra and allen rh...they seem to catch up with the rest of my reds and some are better...

I guess they lost some of their juice through the years. Nice to learn that when infused to some of your other blood, they've helped somewhat. If I'm not mistaken, it was Peping Cojuangco and Esting Teopaco that showed a lot of Bob Howard's fowl out in the Phils. yeah?

    just my two cents ..

Re: who has some good murphy blood in ga

the best in ga there ever was to me was owned by mr.fred hurst r.i.p. he has made his own lines of murphy over the years dead game hard hitting wants to get in close. he had a yl and white leg family. most of the blood was lost after his death. all i have now is a 2 year old hen and a ten year old hen that doest lay. my first game rooster was a murphy from him showed in gaff 13 times. just good honest dead game wouldnt give up chickens. (when legal) if you could find anybody that still has his blood let me know and ill buy them lol

Best Murphys I ever seen come from Upstate NY he got them direct from Heiny when he was 12 years old and has kept them pure ever since. When it was legal to show them they was some of toughest birds I seen. I talked to him the other day and he has a few stags left but no hens or pullets.

I would love to know where you got this information at. The old man I know his uncle was good friends with Heiny and Murphy. He has been to Murphys place and thel claret fowl Murphy had he called them Cherries. Those was kept on the hill behind Murphys place. Maybe you could explain why in over 60 years of breeding them they all come 100% yellow legged and straight comb.

John Sears and Bubba Rollings has some of the good Murphys. Especially Bubbas as I heard a story it being infused to the Cardinal Kelsos of Loyce Derouen.

Re: who has some good murphy blood in ga

IF...IF Charles Claypool has kept them intact, I'd say he'd have to be in the top 5 picks as he got them direct for years from Bob Howard, and I doubt anyone did more with the Murphy's then Bob .. now again, thats if Charles kept them up to par.

Ya slip they are pretty roosters but even better they are really tough. They are also some of the gentlest and easiest to condition roosters i have ever had. They are very user friendly. I gifted a young friend of mine with some , and hes not a very experienced feeder and he has done EXCELLENT with them.
