Here is the story of the frost greys and how they were made!!!
I was very young at this time!!! ask some of Jay Goode friends I am sure they can verify this!!!

Sam Bigham was fighting the Hale Brothers and main in Waco a long time ago (Stag Main) Sam was know for his Bigham Reds Sam raised Sweather McGinnes and he call Sweather and as him to help
well at the time he was working for Pete Frost of Houston, Texas
He asked Mr Frost and he said no because he was friends with both Sam and the Hale Brothers! He told Sam and this pissed him off big time!
well they started the main and Sam was winning it in a big way
he came in with one of his stags a bigham red which was 1/2 Smith Roundhead and 1/2 Claret with some March Blood in them!
this stag was outstanding when he came out of the pit Sweater meet Sam and asked to feel of him! when he gave the stag to Sweather said the only way to get him back was take him will Sam hit him right in the nose! that is way he had a bent nose but he kept the stag
this stag was the daddy of the Frost Greys he as breath to reg grey hens! so that made them 1/4 Roundhead 1/4 claret 1/2 reg grey!
when he hit him I was setting with my day close to Jay, Paul and Jay Groode! Blood got on Jay shirt!!!!!
Last time I talked with Jay before he passed away we talked about it at the time I was 5 or 6 yrs old but that the frist time I saw ground man fighting and never forgot that! when Mr. Frost quite the game rooster business Bobby Joe Manzil purchaed all the frost blood and some of them went to some brothers in Houston, Texas who had yellow cab buisness there I saw them fight them in the old 9 Mile Club in Galveston, Texas
they were good chickens how they got them was underhanded what I understood!!

So that's why some frosts are green legged? Cause of the regular grey in them. I think Ed "boogie " cavazos has the green legged frost line.

Boogie will tell you that his Frost are green legged due to blending his Golden Hackle hatch 15 years ago, then to keep them green legged he just bred towards the green leg greys and away from the hatch. I didn't get to ask if he ever gets any to pop out yellow or white legged again, but i'm sure he does once in a while it's in the genetics.

    Re: Frost Grey

Boogies greys to begin with were the frost, but now he just refer to them as His own grey. Technically you can say they are green legged frost type, actually Boogies greys have an outstanding record in the mex shows and am shows. I would consider them green legged frost, he has been with the frost for a long time only 15 years ago did he make them green legged. Boogie is one of a kind out there, good man to get fowl from.

    Re: Frost Grey

We have pure Manziell greys that come from Jay Goode's yard. When Jay passed , his entire yard was inherited by Ken Hutchinson. There were two hens straight from Bobby Joe. Ken kept one and I got the other one. This hen was slate legged and the off spring from this hen come slate legged land willow legged. We have blended this blood line through our entire Frost Family. When it was legal, this line was very respected where ever we showed. I talked to Bobby Joe about these hens to verify that they in fact came from his yard. Bobby Joe said that he indeed had given the hens to Jay Goode and they were some of the best he had on his yard at the time

    Re: Frost Grey

welcome buddy, as of now i haven't tested any of them but my friend Rico and his uncle Atty. Ram Lopez has been fighting them in the big league WS and UCAP International with great success....

i'm hoping that this season i will be lucky to have some stags that i can use in stag season, one of my pyle broodcock i mated to 3 sweater pullets of nene abello, a pen of hatch blue mating (proven mating from my friend Rico)... by the way the hatch blue that im using has a brother who won twice in stag derby....and my 3rd pen is blue BC cross to pyle hens..... i'm expecting to have plenty to test this stag season....if my purse permit hehehe...

    back to grey topic....
    imported manziel grey.....

bennette grey a gift form a friend, i was told that this is deeply inbred...

this is sweater cross to FEG grey...

another gift from a friend rocky top grey bull stag...

dont like greys to much but my friends keep on sending them hehehe...
