Whats the best bloodline to cross with Albany?

Guys, I need your advice I got a very nice albany broodcock from a very respected cocker here in Cebu. His color is red with lemon hackle and his got white legs. I cross him with a sweater hen and so far the results was good.

But I need to ask you guys, what other bloodlines are really good to cross with albany.

Thumbs up Depends on what you want....

if you want your Albany cross to be smarter, breed to roundhead. If you want more smash and better infighting, breed to Hatch.
You want more speed, breed to Mug, Sid Taylor etc.
Think about what qualities you want in your Albany crosses and breed accordingly.
    Best of luck!

    Albany

    Joeper,

Why don't you try to cross that albany broodcock to pure lemon or pumpkin hatch hen. I'd already try that until now I'm still crossing that albany in three different bloodlines. And also try mclean hatch too. I hope this advise will help you.

just curious, I thought albanys are YL, or do they comes various leg colors??? All that I have seen are REd YL though with the infusions made by the different breeders, i would not be surprised to see them in different colors other than red.

If it is a Reb Williamson Albany, a three way did well for me. Hatch/Roundead hen will produce good offspring when bred to his Albany, also pure hatch. YIS

You do the right thing... cross breeding Albany with Sweater was the right choice of cross breeding...an Albany usually was a cutter while a Sweater was a air slasher....a combination of angat sarado and a ground fighter will be the outcome characteristics of the chicks.

I suggest u can cross ur Albany also with roundhead or lemons....lemons for smarter move and roundhead for hard blows.

But if u want some colourful feathers...u can cross ur Albany with Blue Pyle, Greys or Spangled Clarets or Zamboanga Blacks.

the bloodlines that i want really to cross was these:

    Lemons - smart
Roundhead - strong and powerful blows
Sweater - For high flying start and good slash until ground
    Grey- for multiple kicks

Am hoping you can join me to produce a cock having the bloods of these 4 great battlecocks.

Am interested in exchanging brood cocks and hens ....bargaining agreement no money involve just a barter of chickens.

My new cross breeds today was a:

1/2 dom burrick-1/2 black bonanza (4 chicks alive 3 mos. old)

1/2 yellow hatch-1/2 democrat (5 chicks alive 1 mo. old)

    broodcocks: brownred-sweater
    Kelso-sweater
    yellow leg hatch
    blue pyle-claret
    roundhead-grey
    mitra-grey
    Oriental-hatch
    Dom Burrick-Brownred
    Dom Burrick-Grey
    Radio-Grey

*Most brood cock are cross breed

    Broodhens: Claret
    Black Bonanza
    Blue pyle
    Black Giant
    hatch
    Grey

    * Most brood hens are Pure

Hope we filipino cockers and breeders will unite and produce the best battlecocks in the whole world......we can do it if we all be one.

    Albany's

Joeper' just thought I'd say when I breed Sweater/Albanys I like a Sweater cock over Albany hens, and when I breed Raidio/Albanys I like a Albany cock over Radio hens. You'll just have to try and see what your pair produce.Names are just names,it's how your pair click that matters. You can breed 6 full sisters to the same cock and 1 will throw better cocks than any of the rest, and you need to find her!!

    Joeper,
For me, first you have to know what kind of albany you have and what fighting style & traits they possess, b coz Albany's from diff breeders have diff traits & diff fighting characteristics that they can pass on to their offsprings. The best way to avoid too much experimental crossing is to ask the person where you got the said Bcock and ask him whats the best bloodline to cross it with or what type of fighting style is suitable to cross it with...I think they're the one who has all the knowledge and experience breeding that particular Albany bloodline you got...
And, if you plan to cross it to a sweater(or other line), see to it that the sweater you got is the type of sweater that will complement to the type of Albany you have...
Dont rely too much on Bloodlines & Names, base it on their traits & fighting charateristics, but you have to know it first and you will certainly know how & where to breed it...
    Just my opinion.

I will tell you straight!!! In my case, i will cross breed them not by name because that is only a reference. I will crossbreed them by individual meaning the way they fight.

    Albany crossing

    Joeper,
In our breeding experience we do exceptionally well with roundhead/albany/kelso. Preferably with the albany blood not higher than 1/4..this is enough to provide the blend with sufficient bottom. We avoid Hatch in the mix, because from our experience the albany-hatch combo tend to produce rushers. I agree with the post that you also go not by name breed but by the actual fight style and attributes of the fowl that you have on hand.Picture of Albany/roundhead cock we use for breeding.:hippie:

    LEMON 84's x Albany

I GO FOR THE LEMON 84 X ALBANY CROSSES. They are my winning lines. Only downside: LATE-MATURING FOWLS and the need to be molted inorder to get the aces.

I like crossing mine on good strong fowl. I have bred Albany to some Laws and Mclean. I like the Mclean the best and that is what i continue to breed. Here are some.

last dec 2005, my albany (dark red, staight comb, yellow legged, medium station) was pitted against a sweater looking fowl with white streamers on his tail, owned by a known cocker in our place, 10-6 lang naman ang tawagan, dehado po ako, but my albany outfought his opponet, unluckily, he was also hit in the right leg. By the end of march, i will mate him to my lemon hen.
