Ang hirap kasi sa inyo ay you are barking on the wrong tree. Inspite of all the political bickering of the yellows and using the medioa with all their might to demolish GMA. Hindi natinag si idol ko. She faces all the accusations fair and square. He should face reality and accept responsibility at hindi yung sisishin palagi si idol ko.

PNP head says jueteng flourished under Aquino

The Aquino administration had done little and did not have enough resolve in eradicating the illegal numbers game jueteng, Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Nicanor Bartolome practically confessed before Senate probers yesterday, saying the jueteng activity even flourished during Aquino’s watch.
Bartolome added the “legal” counterpart of jueteng which is the government-run “small town lottery” (STL) has proved to be a setback in their effort to curb the said gambling operations estimated to be raking in P30-billion in income yearly.
Retired Lingayen Archbishop Oscar Cruz told the Senate committee on constitutional amendments, revision on codes and laws chaired by Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago, practically backed up the latter’s assertions on supposed existence of a highly influential “jueteng protector” supposedly in the administration.
“If we go by your version of what is transpiring in our country, jueteng has never been affected at all because it has not diminished since the incumbency of (resigned Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary Rico) Puno as undersecretary for peace and order,” Santiago said.
    “You are correct,” said Cruz.
“Puno appears not to have made any dent in the rising statistics concerning illegal jueteng in our country and I’ve always maintained that legal jueteng is the biggest source of corruption in our country...it only means that somebody is protecting the illegal game operations,” Santiago added.
Sen. Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III noted to Bartolome in the hearing the information provided by Cruz on the matter of government-run casinos being used by jueteng lords to launder money.
“You admitted earlier that jueteng is still alive and thriving in the Philippines, do you know who the jueteng lords are? You have intelligence funds to gather the information,” Pimentel said.
“We have reports on who they are,” Bartolome said.
But when pressed by Pimentel to name names, the PNP chief requested that he do so in an executive session. This was immediately granted by Santiago.

The PNP chief admitted in the hearing that jueteng operators and their cohorts often manage to evade raids and arrest by showing identification cards issued by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office to STL operators.
“As far at the operations of jueteng is concerned, the use of STL IDs (has) prevented our police personnel (form arresting) jueteng operators meaning, they have their own identification cars for STL operations,” he said.

So, Pnoy is preventing the cabinet members from testifying. I remember, when he was a senator he lambasted GMA from preventing her cabinet members from testifying before the senate. She even issued an Executive Order to that effect. Alam nyo yung EO 464 diba? Now, Aquino is using the same tactic. Is that double standard?

Marcos declared Martial Law because of Ninoy Aquino.
Ninoy Aquino was the new political superstar of the time. In all likelihood, he was going to be the next President. But Ninoy was perceived rightly or wrongly as a communist, or at least sympathetic to the communist movement that was leading the social unrest threatening to engulf the country.
The constitutional option for Marcos had run out. The explosive bribing scandal that exposed his attempts to influence the delegates to the Constitutional Convention of 1972 to allow him to run again killed that alternative.
It was at the height of the communist movement’s popularity. For a society beset by severe social inequity and grinding poverty like the Philippines, communism certainly provided a stark alternative, with its own powerful mass appeal, to challenge the unjust status quo. In fact, Southeast Asia then, in particular Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, ( as in Korea), was fast being run over by the Communists, due to the huge support of the people.
The US, the world leader of the anti-communist bloc, was understandably distraught. The prospect of a Ninoy Aquino presidency in one of its closest ally-nations was an added worry. So Washington must have cajoled Marcos to stay on as did other leaders, especially the leaders of the Church, who were fearful of the communists, assuring him of their support. Marcos must have also estimated that if he stepped down indeed, Washington would instigate a coup instead and install a military junta if only to forestall the inevitable, that of a Ninoy presidency. Indeed, if his military background be any guide, Marcos himself must have shared the same apprehensions.
So why not Martial Law, the one last option left? He had nothing to lose. In fact, great opportunities beckoned.

Re: Ano say ninyo kay Noynoy ..part II

The mistake Filipinos do is that on a proforma basis, they come to the conclusion that The Philippines would be rich and prosperous if only some dead man had not died. I beg to differ, even in the case of Ninoy because his past “performance” could not become the basis of what he could DO. All he was able to do was oppose, oppose and oppose! He was really never able to BUILD or ACCOMPLISH anything. Any schmoe could oppose and condemn all the “isms” they could state but what have they actually done? Ninoy Aquino has not done anything to ADD VALUE to Philippine Society and merely made Marcos his straw man to use for his dog and pony show.

These Pinoys who develop yellow fever during times like these are just using Ninoy Aquino as some kind of an opium for their never-ending hero addiction. They have to snap out of it. Their “could have been” scenarios and statements that the country could have been better had their hero just been luckier just give illusions and delusions that a “hero” is the solution to the problems of Da Pinoy. They thought Cory was a “hero” but the country did not progress under her, and now it is the same “hero” theme that put Abnoy Aquino in power and look where that is getting Da Pinas.
Like what has been always said here in AP, there really is no need for heroes and hero worship is actually counterproductive. The people just need to think a little deeper, work a little harder and have a little bit more consideration for their fellowmen. This nonsense that Ninoy Aquino said that “The Filipino is worth dying for” is just plain rubbish.
