it`s an old family originated in alabama by mr. henry lucas. their are still alot of people in the south that breed these fowl. i have two brood pens of them myself. great fowl to cross on hatch.

They look like the old BuckHaws Brownreds was alot of that blood in AL at one time some did very well with them some did not Good fowl just took a good breeder to keep them that way.I bred some of them but added to them over the years till I got them like I wanted and they are still my favorite family. My Avatar is one of the old Pure BuckHaws ones before I added the Charlie Eidt Redquill to them bout 25 year ago or so.I dont know the breeding of the Alabama Brownreds just an observation--Jim
