    Re: Best Law Grey cross

These 3/4 Law 1/4 Pinnon YLH have been real good to us
    Hi TRIPLE,

That sounds like a good make up. Have you gone 7/8? And if you have, can I know what's performing better; 3/4 or 7/8 on the Law side.?

    Thanks!

Thank you! Your welcome anytime - the feed bill is way to much now Got about 100 cross hens & pullets to cull. About 50-75 pure ones to go through. Penned up a 100 plus last week to keep stags happy. I cannot tell I even penned one. Sharpening the ax now

I have Law Greys and all my pullets/hens come solid black. I have been told that this is from the Texas Rangers blood. Either way I love mine, and would not trade them for any other fowl.

    Re: history of Law greys

I lucked into 4 birds (2 hens and 2 cocks) from Mr. Cleveland in North GA. about 10 years ago or so. My timing may be a little off on when it was. He was said to be Mr. Law's son in law. I know he has passed since then. We have had nothing but success with these birds. Most come frost backed, yellow legged, and straight combed. Every year we get a few green legged stags and last year we got one green leg and one yellow leg stag. Also every year we get 1 or 2 that has a lot of white mixed in their plumage to the point that folks will ask me where did I get those spangled birds from. Every so often we will also get a solid white one with just a touch of lemon in their plumage. We just consider these throwbacks, but really haven't tried to isolate those genes. The green legged act/perform more like a Hatch bird, while the yellow legged have a little smarter style. Just my two cents...

    Re: history of Law greys

So in theory the Law hens can easliy come in both yellow and green legs. I have bred both, but prefer the green leg and have bred a good family of green legged Laws.

Yes, Harold Brown had the Law Greys GL version. Red Fox Silvers are basically Law GL Greys, awesome foundation fowl. Thats what I have read.

    E. W. Law supposedly crossed some of his Law greys= SC + YL with Madigan's Texas Rangers (Dk. Legged)

Just hearsay, I was not even born then.
