Oklahoma Breeder Grady Fields Passes Away

According to his son, Mr Fields of Anadarko, Oklahoma passed away this Tuesday. Mr Fields was not only a talented, but also a honest breeder. He bred one of the best hatch fowl that were tough, game, tons of ability, and with a lot of sense (smarts). Our fraternity has loss one of it's greatest members. He will be sorely missed. Our condolenses to his family during their time of grief and loss.

Note: According to his son, all of his father's fowl have been given away - to whom is not clear.

May he rest in Peace. Fine man great cocker I got to visit him about 13 years ago met him out at the compound where he kept fowl high fence 2 of the biggest meanest Great Pyrenes dogs I ever saw he told me even he couldnt handle them asked him how he wormed them he said see that corral I gettem in their and rope them--LOL-dont know if he was jokin or not but I could picture that in my mind. His Fowl on year was walked into the barn where he funneled chickens through a series of smaller pens till they were packed tight he would reach through the outside and pull out hens checking toe marks till he found the ones he thought you needed in your trios/pairs. Great guy we all go when we are called hes in a better place-Jim

I visited Mr. Fields last fall and picked up some YL Grey blood for a friend in New Mexico. My sister lives down the road in Elgin. It was months after that when his wife died, the spring and I am sure that didn't help any. I knew him exactly 30 years. A great person besides being a great rooster man. I took a video camera and he agreed to an interview which we scheduled for the next day. As luck has it the rain came down and he said to come back on my next visit. Rest in Peace.

I never met Mr. Fields in person, but I carried on a long phone conversation with him a couple years ago. A true rooster man and sounded like he was a pistol back in his day! May he rest in peace, my prayers go out to the family. Whoever was gifted those fowl, I hope they do em' justice. YFIS MIKE

Re: Oklahoma Breeder Grady Fields Passes Away

I spoke with him on the phone about a year ago about his Ginger Hatch. He told me that the cocks were not ginger, and 1 out of 100 hens came Ginger.
He told me that it was Sweater McGinnis, who fought his birds and named them Ginger Hatch. I hate it I never made it to see him or get any.

These are not my words, but the words of Wildfoot from this forum. They were posted elsewhere on this site, but I think it is appropriate to put here.

    Of Oklahoma........

I have his Ginger Hatch.........If you got it direct ! Keep it !

    I dont endorse many.
