Re: John and Anna Slavin fowl

I got a trio of ther greys about 5 years ago.
the stag cock out to weight no more than 4 lbs 02oz. he mature into a VERY NICE LOOKING VERY ATTLETIC, BUT as I said weithgted only 4 pounds, both pullets were very very short (seem like they were crossed with banty).. everything I raised out of them was short and small. I breed the cock over some of (my reds, the biggest bloodline I have) and they turned to be nice, breed them back to the reds making them 1/4 of the grey blood and they were better. specially now they have nice large bodies... breed them greys stags back to the reds and they are awesome. will see how next years stags will turn out (i plan to breed them grey color stags back to the red family hens)............ so basically took me at least 4 generations to get them where I want them. last season I contact him again. I mentioned my name, my prior purchase, and inquiring about having a stag or cock that weight at least 5 pounds and med to high station............he kind of got upset and rude... and went off .. bla bla bla............... I said thanks (thank him for saving my wallet and for leting me know everything he breeds is a world champion and the good fowl are always VERY SHORT AND SMALL).

Re: John and Anna Slavin fowl

my good friend has these rhd's...He stated they are very small. but these fowl are for crossing. they are real linebred and inbred. I believe John believes in the Hugh Norman breeding method. But my friend has won a lot of mains and derbies with the Rhd and crosses. He likes Rhd over Jumper Grey's and Rhd over something he calls new hopes. The Rhd's are very athletic. He said these are the most athletic fowl hes seen. I got a trio from him as a gift. They are 3/4 Slavin RHD and 1/4 Ray Westal Rhd(lacy). They act real good and have good bodies.

Re: John and Anna Slavin fowl

I seen a good few of their cripple tonies shown in gaff... fighting sobs... but the fellow admitted that if they got behind theyd quit, too tightly bred, but that you couldnt run one off when crossed with good hatch blood with a mack truck..

The ones I got from him were also short they almost look like bantams also
they were maneaters. John was also a prick when I cofronted him about the
size and station of the birds and quality. That's me experience with Black Hatch Farms.
