My Black Hatch were made from two hens from Ted Mclean. And a Harry Paar Mclean cock in the late sixtys. I use to show them in Oklahoma at Kellyville in the 80s they were dark red cocks okies called them Black Hatch. Thats how the name started. Gary Gilliam fed a show for me we won the Odom Derby biggest of the year.

Thank you so much Mr. Slavin , sounds like you have really built on a foundation second to none. I also read the kind words your wife had to say in this issue of the G.C. , thought that was pretty cool.... Apparently you Sir know how to pick'um.... Both !

Two of the best pullets I have ever purchased were from John and Anna [ Red pullets that were Roundhead/Gray Cross] never thru a gray feather but thru many winners.

Mr. Slavin, I am curious as to your hens that came from Ted, I ask because Harry published in the Gamecock magazine that no, what Ted and he called the straight stuff ever got out on the hen side....I am in no way questioning your reputation as it precedes you, I would just like to know the story. Thanks, REDbreeder

A friend of mine went to Teds in the sixtys and brought the hens back to me . He told me they were his Mcleans. They may not have been the straight ones but he said they were. If he never let any go then how did all the Mclean fowl get all over the country?
