Point Remove, could you tell me a little about what you saw in them, both good and bad. I heard that they were game and had plenty of power and speed, and that they were good straight, but you can hear anything. It would be nice to hear all opinions on these fowl, for who ever has seen them in action in the past. Thanks

    Re: Dale Mac Mugs

They are a Family over 45 years in the making. They are Racey blue mugs originated from two pairs when he was 6 years old. One pair or trio was of SH origin. When he moved south to LA he met a man with Racey mugs but they were southern LH fowl. They had longer wings and big tails but came all the same colors as his Racey Mugs. He bred them into one another and they were good. He's kept them going ever since.

    Re: Dale Mac Mugs

I was raised around Del Mack's Mugs (He's My Uncle) and they are about the most game fowl I've ever seen. Sharp, fast, powerful Chickens (Them Hens got a bite to them to. haha) If you ever get the opportunity to get a pair of his Mugs, go for it. Sure do miss watchin them fight when legal...

    Re: Dale Mac Mugs

Would you be the Dale Mac that raises them? If so I've got a phone number for calling. If not I will be calling Dale tomorrow after work. I heard that some of the ones that came blue in color were hell on wheels, and that they were all nice, but that the blue ones had a little extra. Thanks again guys for all of the input. I inquired about these from a man that has probably seen more cock fights back in the day, than anyone living, and when I asked him who had the best off colored fowl, this was the answer that I got. One of the storys told back when it was legal, is that they won 17 straight fights with this fowl, and someone accused them of tying flat gaffs, as the story went the owner of the Mugs replied back that he would trade gaffs if the other people wanted, and if that would make them feel better. I know good honest fowl like this is hard to come by, but this is what I want if possible, and if Mr. Mac don't want to part with them, I can't say that I would blame him. The old Referee that told me the story on them was there that day it happened.

    Re: Dale Mac Mugs

I heard that story about the flat gaffs. It goes something like this. He was 8 w 0 L in an eleven cock. After winning his 8 th the ref gave him a loss for flat gaffs after he had already put his rooster away? So he said ok, I'll tie on the house gaffs for my next fight. He won his 9 th with the house gaffs and guess what. After he put his winner away he discovered that the ref gave him a loss again!!! Well guess who went on to win the derby? The owner of the pit with his own entry!!!! Smells bad!!!
He has won cocker of the year several times as well as sportsman of the year back in the day.

    Re: Dale Mac Mugs

He has told me the flat gaff story many times. Even after the two losses, he went into the middle of the main pit, held up the "flat" gaffs and offered to let anyone that would like to look at them to come look. They blocked the door and wouldn't let anyone in, so yeah, smells bad! Username DaleMac is the real Del Mack, after Gaff and I told him about people asking about him, he created this acount message him or me for info.

    Re: Dale Mac Mugs

Does anyone have anymore pictures of them? I was able to talk with Del a little more today, and heard some very interesting stories. I hope I can get a invite down to look at his roosters. I will say that I'm impressed with the win record that Del has with these Mugs. and has had them for over 45 yrs. That is impressive. I also was able to hear the story of when he fought 4 shows in a 4 cock, and then fought in the 2 cock afterwards, and he won all 18 fights...........Wow!!!!!!!!!

Can anyone explain what a flat gaff is? Those are
Some awsome looking birds guys. Was just at an old guys place who had a racey mug hen running loose with several chicks and one was black and white real odd looking pattern but he wouldnt part either.

    Re: Dale Mac Mugs

Flat Gaff is where they try and flatten one side of the gagg giving it a edge. I was able to go down to Del's this past weekend and pick up a pair of the Mugs. I was really pleased with the cock and hen that I received. Del is a super nice guy, and was very willing to show me around his rooster yard and brood pens. It was a long drive but well worth it. My dad also went along and ended up buying a pair as well.
