The girls... Well, I was chatting one up at a club. This one was too hot to be true. I couldn't stand the doubt so I asked the DJ. And yup, she was a ladyboy!
All good though. Still chatted and made with friends with her/him
She/he was a knockout! Too bad...

Re: Thailand! A cocking holiday...
It looks like the pit I visited. Is that about 1 hour 45 minute drive out of Bankok?
Tape boxing at that venue. Man it's a long hard days cocking. Twenty minute rounds with twenty minute rests. You start your fight in the main pit and then you move to one of the smaller ones for your second round and every succeeding round thereafter.
Thailand is a great place for a holiday. My friend married a Thai lady and has been there for about eight years. He breeds gamefowl and sells them to syndicates for pitting.
There are no deaths in their boxing, that I saw anyway.
I did see them fight a weapon on Koh Samui. That was very similar to Short heel fighting.
They fight their Thai orientals.

Gaff,
Maybe... This one was an hour away. Cant really tell by number of hours cause, you know, Bangkok, it took me one hour, you 1.5 and some other day, 3
. Traffic there is so bad.
Yeah, long day cocking. Fights take a long time. But they love it!
Regards.

Hi JC, thanks for sharing those awesome pics. Made me a bit nostalgic. Been there at least 4 occasions but never got the chance to see cockfights. yeah those bamboo round pens are great. I just bought some blue limbering pens for 440 pesos. Those bamboo pens should help farmers earn a living if they would sell cheaper than the ordinary pens we usually buy.

Re: Thailand! A cocking holiday...
Yes. Thats a good idea with the farmers. We dont really need those PH 3x3s except for when we travel to the pits. Those bamboo pens are only B200 or P300. Thats a good deal! You wanna get a bunch of guys together and lets bring a 40 footer of those? We can probably get it for P200 only wholesale. No taxes as we are both ASEAN members.
Regards.

boss JC, nice! it was like I was there myself...
but I can't get that bottle with herbs and spices... it's like preparing them for cooking... spice rub...
wonder if our fellow naked heelers in the Philippines do that also... maybe it's to stimulate or cool down the fowls?

Re: Thailand! A cocking holiday...
Nice share of very clear pics sir...i know for a fact that it gave you a lot of information about cocking in a foreign land and I am sure that it was one great experience.
Based on your pics, they do have some rituals similar to that in Cambodia and Vietnam, like the rub-down and possibly having their fowls gargle water. The handler puts water into his own mouth then sprays it into the cock's mouth then he massages the throat and makes the water come out. I guess it's a way of clearing the passages..not sure though.
The round pens, both made of wire and bamboo are quite a novelty really. They do sell them at almost the same price (or slightly cheaper) in Vietnam and they do come in different sizes (small, medium and large)...the smallest one is for bantams which they also show in gaffs. However, the only disadvantage I see is the small opening at the top....had to experience it several times and it's kinda difficult getting them out of these pens....most especially when they are man-fighters. These were of course straight bred american fowls since their local asils are as kind and gentle as any pet we would have at home.
Wished that you could have visited one of their pits when you were in Cambodia. They do fight in gaffs (long gaffs) and you could have probably seen a few mixed breeds being shown, if not straight american fowls.
Thanks for this sharing once!

I remember when I was a kid, during break, the pitter/owner would gulp some water with herbs in their mouth that they had been chewing for quite awhile and spit it into their fowl face and armpit to freshen them up. I think it's an aromatic smell (ammonia effect) to wake up their fowl and endure a 3hrs or more of naked heel.

Take note of that bottle. That fascinated me. I have no idea what it's for, but it's got herbs and spices and they wash down the rooster with it before releasing.
A good scrub under the armpits. Wouldn't want him to have BO, now would we?
One last soak of the magic herbs.
That's all folks!

Hope you enjoyed the trip.
When matching gamedogs, dogs are always washed after weigh in, with plain soap, by the competitions handler or someone he apoints to oversee, dogs are washed to ensure there is no bite deterant or poison on the dogs coat, and always watched so the opposing handler does not slip something or otherwise try and hurt the animal. mabay this has something to do with it...

Which type of cock do you expect?
There are 2 type of fighting cock in TH. One is you see from this post we call naked heel type and another one is similar to PI or USA gamefowl fight with gaff.
The second type is what I have and raise for. The second type very good in cutting ability thru spurs. That mostly in south of TH. The weight of this type of cock typically around 2.8 to 4 kg.
