    Re: Joe Redmond greys

The old cocker I got my JR stag from would show them pure in gaff back in the 80's, but told me to cross to hatch blood. Only because he turned his JRs out into the woods 20 yrs ago and they have been inbreeding and going through natural selection since then.
Even though JR greys are considered power fowl I have considered infusing more redquill into them. Anybody done this?

You dont see many joe redmons these days, the joes i use to raise were cutting chickens were game. i would cross a good hatch cock or a good redquill over your hen.joe redmons were made from redquill and different grey families.

I know a man who has some of these. He lives in TN but he WILL NOT sell any he keeps them up in a barn. They are nice fowl if you can get the good ones. I used to have a hen she would crow I like their black eyes they have. They are nice looking fowl as well Goblin Clever that is a nice rooster.

Send me an e mail address and will send a pic of his sons. They look exactly the same or a shade lighter. Some taller.

First grey family I had was Joe Redmonds from Lewis Harper of Antlers, OK. They cut cut were ground fighters and crossed great on everything. His were green leg family. He said black leg family lacked bottom of green leg family.

When was this meeting, the year? I had Joe Redmonds from him as a teenager in 1978. He was up in the years then. I do not know if he had family that raised birds though.

Bama I met him about 5 yrs ago, But my buddy,Danny, was up there last year at the latest. Don't know if his family all come green legged as mine is a little dark legged but as Danny explained to me as Mr. Harper explained to him, they are supposed to be green legged.

Danny showed Mr. Harper's fowl pure in the 80's and has kept in touch since that time.

sorry I meant to direct that to grey. I know a few retired cockers around here in there70's, 80' and 90's that still have birds. Jerry Hughes, Grady, and Lewis right off the top of my head.
