    Re: Thompson Whites

The Real Thompsons that used to be here in Tennessee and Northern Alabama were all solid white, white beaks ,spurs, only thing red on them were their comb, and eyes.I have saw alot of them for sale now that are white with specs.I am not saying they are not good whites but i think pure Thompsons should be SOLID WHITE.

My Uncle gifted me a pair, around '78, all I can remember about that rooster is the meaniest manfighter I have! I hope the ones that you have are gentle! Good luck to your breeding......

I will say that if they are the real deal they are hell on wheels. I saw someone with them once that really tore things up. But real good white fowl are hard to find.

    Re: Thompson Whites

My wife's grandfather used to maintain the Thompson white bloodline,he said they were the best and only family of white fowl that he would ever consider worthy of raising, him and his brothers dominated that area at that time using there thompsons and there Allen rhs, they even ran 3 pits back then. He said they were many multi time show winners as they were excellent cutters had good power and most of all they were very game,he lost the family when he moved nc and left the Thompson fowl with an entrusted friend to keep until he could return to get his fowl, what theives didnt take care of the varmits did. He was one of the gentleman that introduced me to this life changing sport that we all so dearly love. I knew from the moment I first encountered our lil feathered warriors that it was gonna be a life long endeavour. My wife's grandfather just recently passed away 12-23-13, two days before Christmas and what would've also been his birthday. On his death bed he still was asking fo his white rooster!!!!!! Now that's love for the fowl in its rarest up most form, that's gameness at its finest my friend!!! He was so weak he could barely speak, couldn't eat or drink but he still requested his white rooster!!!! RIP CURTIS BOWLES

    Re: Thompson Whites

I have a partner that has Thompsons. They are great birds that mix power, cut and gameness. One of the best brood hens I have ever had was 3/4 Thompson White and 1/4 Spanish Jerazano. Every stag I raised off her won their first show. 13 stags in 3 years. I still have some of her in my yard. Good Thompsons are awesome gamefowl.

    Re: Thompson Whites

Okie what do you get out of these whites when you breed to a red bird? They aren't recessive whites like the Clarets are they?
Also what do you know about Curtis Blackwells white birds?
    Thanks old friend

    Re: Thompson Whites

I've seen a few supposed pure Thompson's at my brother in-law's place but they were not pure whites like the pics above. So if they are white with a few specs of other colors, they are not the real deal pure Thompson's? YIS....

    Re: Thompson Whites

I have seen what were said to be White Kelsos which are Dominant white. It has always been my understanding that Curtis Blackwell bred some of this White Kelso.
Tell me what yall know about dominant White Kelsos and their lineage.

    Re: Thompson Whites

Real Thompson Whites when bred to other color fowl will throw white chickens and some have reported that down to 1/8 Thompson blood will still through white fowl as they are a dominant white gene.
