I raise exotic birds all different types of parrots. With parrots if you use cedar chips in your nest boxes it will 100% kill your birds because it is in a concentrated area and the fumes from the cedar build up. Not to sure if this will help you out or not.

I always heard it too. I put them in a 150 gallon stock tank and used it as a brooder. I changed the bedding when I got a whiff of ammonia and got the nicest mulch you ever saw. No dead biddies. I don't know??? Maybe it was because I had wire over the top so the fumes couldn't build up. Just what I did this year???

I've used them as long as I can remember 40+ years with no problems.

I've use the one that's mixed with pine shaving in my pens, especially breeding pens and nest boxes, never had a problem!

I have a small garden with wood chips and it's probably one of the favorite places for the free ranged birds...... No problems on my end
