    Re: Mexican boxes

Mike any finish carpentry or cabinet maker shop could make them quick. You would need to leave him one as a pattern. Good luck I hope everything works for you. Mike are you going to the UGBA annual meeting in San Antonio in August? I'll be there

If you don't find what you are looking for, send me a pm. I'm a trim carpenter and have been building a few boxes. I'm up in Oklahoma but planning a trip to Waco sometime in the near future.

If you can wait about another month I will be heading your way. The guy makes them with 3 holes or up to 10 holes.

Here's one that I built. 1/2" plywood for the main part and 1/4" for the dividers. I made a dado and glued the dividers in place. I charge $8-$10 per hole. Is that a fair price?

    Re: Mexican boxes

I see cases and keep stalls that are pretty cheap and don't know how they can do it for that price. I built two 4 hole keep stalls and I had as much in material as some of them charge for whole thing. I did use cedar for the doors and 1/4' that slides in and out to darken them.

The handles I used on this one cost $5 each. They are nice and strong and nothing is on the inside. I used rope on one but they said if there's a big rooster in that hole, they can rub it a little.

The hole itself is 7" square. Top cover from front to rear is 14" and the bottom from front to rear is 16". You can make it lighter if you use 1/2" square wood frame and 1/8" thick plywood.

A few months back a man had some at Canton First Monday trade days. He is at dog town on the 1st roe back corner. He had a good selection and is usually there every month. Or has been the last few times I have been down that way. Good luck.
