    Need a little historical help

    Hello Fellow Sportsman
Need a little historical help. My Grandfather told me of a story of his grandfather traveling from Church Point Louisiana to New Orleans to fight Spanish cocks.
I know I read somewhere of a pit in New Orleans many years ago where American Gamefowl were fought, don't remember the name but I am looking for the Spanish Cock Pit. This would have been around the 1880's to 1890's. My Grandfather told me that the pit was actually near the same site as the original cockpit that the Spaniards fought when Louisiana was in Spanish Hands.
Looking for the name of the cockpit and any references that can be found online.

Thanks for any and all help!
    Troy

Cajun: An 1880's guide to New Orleans lists a Spanish Cockpit at Dumaine and Pricur Streets. Mains every Sunday, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. That's all it says...
