Do you have a rooster with them? If yes, make sure he’s not the one that starts pecking at the egg. Put a egg in the pen, if the rooster starts calling the hens to eat, take him out of the pen. Get some ceramic eggs and throw em in the cage, they’ll try to eat them and eventually get tired when nothing happens. If they insist cut their beak some.

If most or all are doing it look hard at nutrition or lack thereof. This is usually a learned behavior and chickens do learn by seeing others do it. But soft shells and pore nutrition go hand in hand and are often the culprit.

She might be vitamin deficient. Make sure she’s getting enough calcium (oyster shell) in her diet. If you are not breeding, let her out to eat plenty of green grass. If you’re breeding her collect the eggs. Boredom can lead to egg eating so give her coop or pen space.

    Good Luck
