    What Would Be It???

If you would like to improve your flock in the Cutting Department/Cutting Ability, from a Yellow Legged Family/Strain, What would it be? A Yellow legged Kelso, YLH, YL White hackle, YL Roundhead, Sweater, or What? Would appreciate your 2 cents about this curiosity.

    PS: For Long Heel Purposes

    Re: What Would Be It???

Ylh or Claret over strong shuffling fowl ... Asil or Roundhead over quicker , smart- ish breeds .

Roundhead types are a quick fix , but when you get the stronger types cutting you can step up with the big boys imo

    Re: What Would Be It???

I would look at who breeds them vs the breed in general. U can say roundhead, clarets, chets etc but if the breeder of those lines doesn't focus on that aspect it will diminish vs a breeder that breeds for that ability

Hi Ks kenny, nice looking Kelso! if I may ask, what does "JOF" mean? If it is the name the farm, is this yellow leg Kelso their base bloodline? Thanks

Howdy Fir-Rite, do you know if Mr. Bosley is still breeding them muffs actively? Also, I would appreciate it if you can post some pics of them. Thanks

Sorry cocker, cause I think Brown reds are usually dark legged. Am trying to find out if there is a Yellow legged family/strain out there that can be a source of Cutting ability to improve other families in that department.

Hello Geturfactsstr8, do you know of any breeder who has a base blood of excellent cutting yellow legged Gamefowl family/strain? You can say that, that is the breeder I'm looking for. Thanks

I think you are looking for a whithackle Carl smith line , yellow leg McLean Hoskins line, or a good sonatol asil this is the lines in the past I’ve researched that had good cutting ability and gameness above all.. yfis

    Re: What Would Be It???

Unless youre set on one particular breed then there are Lots of good yellow legged fowl out there , all the breeds mentioned above are good if bred right, finding the ones to compliment your fowls the hard part. Its best to find what youre looking for local that you know are good if possible. Sometimes that's not possible and you just have to take another mans word and wait a long time to find out. Ive got burned a couple times ordering fowl even after doing a lot of research and them being recommended. So in my opinion if you can get a yellow leg family no matter the breed from someone you know for a fact are good then you can breed with confidence...

Those ol Muffs are good if you find the right ones aren't they ! I never had the chance to own any of the beardy bastards but I met them back in the good ole days.I was at a small place years ago with what I thought was pretty good roosters. We matched first call into a fellow with a whole show of YLH/Muff .( nice looking dark red , yellow legs with big black beards) .That thing went up about chest high and drove us down to the ground and that was that as they say!
Flat out out roostered ! I got to admit I felt bad and little embarrassed lol . But as the day wore on I didn't feel as bad cause every one they showed that day went exactly the same with everyone they met.I regret not trying to get one of them d**** things !

I finally found one you posted in " Show Cocks, #79). He's a nice spangled yellow legger. He's kind of a small cock though. Do they usually come small with low to medium station? Thanks

    Re: What Would Be It???

If it were a survey, I'd personally go with the other suggestions here presuming their true to their breed...an Asil or Roundhead would probably do it.
