I go a few times each year and can tell you some of my favorite places. By no means have I been everywhere so there may be even better places to go. Also when I go, I usually go to the hotel, to the Palenque, and back to the hotel and maybe out to a restaurant but cant give you much insight to night clubs or beaches or anything like that. I liked it in Tijuana. Easy to get to as I just fly into San Diego and then drive across. Nice Hotels, Good pit, people was friendly. Did get to see some of the ocean views driving in and they was nice also. Some of the best tacos I have had in Mexico. I have heard the strip with all the bars can be rough but never been. Next is Guadalajara. I usually go there every year. Its a little bit of a drive through the city from the airport to the pit but there is a direct flight from Dallas to there so pretty easy to get to. Really nice pit and very competitive fights as many of the Mexico breeders keep farms near there. Probably had best steak I ever ate there in Guadalajara and for under 30 dollars. Lots of quality fights. Next is Leon. Another place with direct flight from Dallas so very easy to get to. Palenque is also very nice and big with good fights. Food doesn't seem to be as good in that area as other places but maybe I just haven't found a good place yet. They have a big casino hotel within walking distance to the Palenque. But don't get a hamburger from room service, got bad food poisoning that way one time. lol
Next is Pachuca. Little harder to get to as I had to fly into Mexico City and drive there. Also always seems to be a shortage of hotel rooms anywhere close to the pit but it does have a nice pit. Next is Aguacalientes. Really nice place and nice pit. Whole town seemed brand new and clean. Went during the big fair so there was plenty to do and see and even with so many people there, they had plenty of security and no problems. Fights every day during the fair and stayed in hotel that was walking distance to the pit and also had several restaurants within walking distance so didn't even need to drive once we arrived.

Springwater said it well. I'd maybe add Puerto Vallarta since it's a good beach destination in Jalisco, with a good night life and there's great fowl in the state, I just hesitate a bit because I've never been there so I don't know the quality of the pit. I imagine something similar could be said of Los Cabos in Baja, but I have even less of a clue of the place!

Also Tepic is like 20 minutes from the coast I think and there are some good beaches in Nayarit! If you could time your trip with one of the Mid America events like the Gaff Worldchampionship next month that could work, too.

Thank you much springwater. Wow my friend, you should open a travel agency business and organize/lead tour groups for “Mexico Sabong Competitions”. With your experience, you are very very qualified to do this. I’ll be number one to sign in if you ever wanna do this. And yeah, we can skip the night clubs. Too old for that now.

Thanks much aquazarca. Yeah, heard some good things about Puerto Vallarta Beaches, but nada information about Sabong pit(s) there. Hope somebody can fill us in about it. And looks like it’s not a loong drive from PV to Tepic.
