That's him. Don't know why I mistaken the other guy as him. Remember him with his grey roosters.

Thanks for posting these pics Peterg. Great thread. Cant stay off Sabong morr than a few minutes just hoping you will post more photos of folks from the days of my youth. In the one photo was Billy Nance he was a lifelong friend of my family. We traded rabbit dogs and fought birds with him. He used to pay me when I was young to catch stags and help him trim cocks. He gave me 15 hatch cross stags when I was 13 or 14. Had a ball fighting them into each other. In the 70s dad said he was tuff to beat. Was friends with Billy Ruble and Bill Bumgardner and partnered up with them in derbys. Thanks again Peter for the memories!

You are welcome. I enjoy posting them thanks to webbly for schooling me on how. I would have posted more but don't want to offend anyone by posting their pics. I shouldn't worry as all this was 10 or more years ago but I've been holding back hahaha.

Billy nance also partnered with a man by the name of Wade Ullyus if anybody remembers him. He was a lawyer from Greensboro. They said he fought white Hornets thru the 60s and 70s and was well known for them. Just a bit of history someone may remember.

Harry Parr of Chocolate Grey fame. Johnny told me he never left the pit, drunk or not without stopping, stooping down and writing their wing band and how they fought down. I have multiple pictures of Harry Parr and only a couple are without a drink in hand or at a table of booze hahahaha

No idea who these two with Johnny are. Tommy is going to have to school me on all these pics.

This was after a knife derby win with Roundheads. Troy Pierce and the guy to the lefts name escapes me.

All gentlemen of the sport of kings. Look for President Jimmy Carter holding a Gamecock Magazine on page 13 of "Famous breeders" thread. I reviewed that thread yesterday page by page. Good thread that was ambush by people disagreeing.

    Re: Friends of Johnny Mays

I had a conversation with Tommy this afternoon and we were discussing Floyd Gurley. Come to find out he kinda answered the question i had on postiza fowl of this site. Floyd had or soon after won the Claymore with Asil grades and then went with the guys over to Puerto Rico. Apparently he got his ass handed to him with the same type birds hahahaha.

Harry Parr on the left, not sure about the lady, Floyd Gurley and Tommy Greene. Interesting that Johnny Mays and Floyd had fought together way back when under the Sailor Boys entry.
