Hi Mr.Nesmisth. I have a simple question for you. Should a show of cocks or stags spar "great" toward the end of the keep(last Monday or Tuesday before fight day)? I have been told by several persons that if they do, then they lack exercise. Do you think that a family known for their athleticism will spar good the majority of the time regardless of work and rest? Maybe something like a roundhead or kelso type rooster? Anyway, your advise on this one would be greatly appreciated by fellow cockers. Thanking you in advance, Felito.

And without me not being there to see the droppings there's no way I can tell you to adjust your roosters. But it can only be about three things, they are either too dry , too wet, or have too much feed in them. Hope you understand what I mean. Thanks Carol

Sir, there is one thing I observed that day, the roosters did not drop the chocolate colored dropping. From the start, their droppings (brown with white) were normal. During limber time, their dropping were also regular, that is, the milky like liquid dropping which pointed chickens usually drop. They do not even show any signs of stress due to heat because they were not even panting. What I could not figure out is why they did not drop the chocolate colored dropping, which usually indicate that they are almost empty. We all know that the chocolate dropping precedes the milky looking substance. Your advice is well taken. Thanks for replying. I really appreciate it. Hope to purchase from your great farm soon the legendary Blackwater Sweaters. Best wishes to you and your family.

Sir anytime you are conditioning cocks ( any type bloodline) they will spar worse as you go along in the keep. And then at the end of the keep when you rest them and they become pointed , that's when they should be at their very best. Thanks Carol this is my opinion.

The stags seemed to be off but they could withsatnd punishment from their opponents. As a matter of fact, one even won from behind and two managed to score a draw. All the rest lost. Hope you could share some good advice so I could make some adjustments. Thanks.
HEY VFF JUST MY HUMBLE OPINION BUT MAYBE THEY JUST RAN INTO BETTER ROOSTERS OR MAYBE THEY JUST WERENT READY ON THAT DAY. JUST BECAUSE YOU PUT THEM THROUGH A KEEP DOESNT MEAN THAT THEY ARE ALL GOING TO END UP AT THE SAME PLACE COME THE DAY OF THE FIGHT BECAUSE NOT ALL WILL START AT THE SAME PLACE. THAT IS WHY COCKERS WITH BIG FARMS START OFF WITH A LOT OF ROOSTERS IN THE BEGINNING AND WHAT THEY END UP WITH IN THE END IS STILL ENOUGH FOR THEM TO PICK THROUGH TO FIND THE ONES THAT ARE FEELING AND LOOKING THE BEST THE DAY OF THE FIGHT. THE POWER OF SELECTION. THEN AGAIN, THE REAL QUESTION SHOULD HOW DID THEY LOOK AND FEEL TO YOU THE MORNING OF THE FIGHT DAY? AGAIN JUST MY HUMBLE OPINION.
