Re: Butchers
Before watching the video... I said to myself... "you can't win on gameness alone in the LK... " but after seeing the video... that fight is one of the rare occassions where a game bird wins on gameness alone.
Thanks sir Luc !
... still waiting for the pix !

I think this is the only lk fight I have ever seen, where a bird really had too dig down deep, and win on gameness alone, and wouldn't you know that it was a butcher. Not many of them that have ever shown that kind of heart in the lk, the owner should be proud.

Origin of black butchers
Hello friends
So here's the thing, I've searched the internet for news on black butchers. Sites like ultimatefowl dont have any words on them. Most Americans have never heard of them except brassback albanies while most Pinos dont know who originated them. Black butchers started to be known in PI only in the last decade or maybe the last few years. So there is not much on them so this thing has to be recent. Now most people would think to get these, automatically they think of sids,mc raes, bonanza blacks and cross them to butchers to get black butchers. So I think most people been trying to make their own versions and called it black butchers. Thats fine with me, but no one seems to know who originated them. Things like brassback clarets, brassback hatches bla bla bla has been recent after this. I have my own conclusion to how it was originated and who started the black butcher craze in PI but I just want to hear what most Americans and Pinos have to say before I share my story. Hate or critize these thread but I just want to know the truth and I think most people would like to know as well

I was waiting on you to weight in on this Mr.Marsh!Lmao...it kinda makes me think and compare it to the endless families of fowl now called "Hatch".Even the one's like the Leipers that people call hatch even though Mr.Hatch had nothing to do with their origin.

Re: Origin of black butchers
the first i have ever read about was whitehackles from england over a hundred years ago was brassback colored, as for the butchers i think everyone on this site should know by now that marsh butchers are not brassback but i would not hate on the brassback butcher strain, alot of people like them and IF they were made of marsh butcher and something else , i would take that as a compliment that they were liked good enough by someone to use them to set another strain

I will give an example....Mac White bred a Butcher from my farm over Claret from his farm, I did the same Claret from his farm and Butcher from my farm. We both got them off fairly close together but his were matured quicker than my and seemed a tad bigger. Mine do come on in time it just that they are a little slower. I live in the mountains, 5200 feet, Mac doesn't.....ENVIROMENT is in my opinion 50%, just some things to consider

I also read this in The Best of Narragansett........thanks'

I need a piece of advice from you guys --hope you don't mind.
Who is the most honest breeder in the Philippines or in the US with whom shall I get a trio of Bucher? Appreciate your advice folks, Gani Reli.

There are no dark legged butcher fowl, maybe a blue leg pullet, which would be rare but NO dark leg Butcher. Mark is on the board let him validate or correct me...

Re: Butchers
you might be right redbreeder, the darkleg family might not be around no more, thats why i was wondering if anyone had them, if your right i wonder what happened to them, if the marsh family discontinued them or if they just faded away.
