help me choose
hello friends and fellow cockers,
after months of saving my money i have finally got enough to buy myself a trio of chickens. i have done my research and narrowed my choice down to two. i have to decide between the robin breasted green legged greys of alabama special, or the spangled gerrard hatch of bama sports. the one i go with will be set as a base family for hopefully years to come. if it wasnt illegal i would show only in the gaff. any comments you guys have would be much appreciated, and weigh heavy in my final descion

I personally had the Gerrard from bamasports any in my opinion I think you cant go wrong with them.I have no idea about Alabama special, but if you get the gerrards you'll like them.

I've had both have more of the Dark.I bought a spangled broodcock and spangled hen from them I still have the Spangled hen the rooster broke his beak and had feet problems. But if I had a healthy Spangled from them I bet he would be nice.I Really like the dark they have some Power and ability to them for a pure hatch.I still have the spangled hen trying to decide what to do with her.I don't have a Spangled hatch rooster anymore so don't know what to do with the only spangled gerrard I have lol.

Re: help me choose
a good hatch is a good starting block always, but nowadays "this is my opinion" i would get me a good bloodline of roundheads, because they can win pure no matter what and they make crosses even more deadly, if i could only have 2 strains it would be some roundheads and a good solid family of green legged hatch.

Man The Dark Gerrards in my honest opinion.Don't get me wrong, but seem to be more complete. The Spangleds are supposed to be great though they seem to sit and shuffle and the dark play smart then power.

Have you thought about breeding the spangled hen to the dark line?

Re: help me choose
I would choose those Gerrard , just from my personal taste . And I would also put into consideration which one of these two breeders is more likely gonna send you good stuff .

Re: help me choose
I would go with the gerrad hatch spangled or dark makes no difference i like greys dont get me wrong but no yard is complete without good solid hatch blood and they should be able to roll straight bred as well

Re: help me choose
Your name says it all hatch is better. Between them two I think I would have to choose the spangled hatch.
