Re: Buzzsaw Clarets
These post was written by Butch Taylor:
Maurice Cohen of San Antonio got the Clarets from Bobby Manziel (the old man) when Bobby and C.C. Cooke were partners and J.D. Perry was their feeder. Maurice Cohen was a wealthy man from Texas and fought a lot of Madigan Clarets that he got from Perry!!! Plus he let Charles Eidt and his father Sam have some of them, and they called their fowl the Buzzsaws!

Re: Buzzsaw Clarets
This history was way before my time bro and when I did acquire the Buzzsaws from my partner they were already inbred. They came almost every color of the rainbow, from deep blood red to spangle. They hit as hard as Hatch and they waste no time to kill a downed bird. The dirt blows up from underneath the other bird when these Buzzsaws legs starts to churn. They weren't called Buzzsaws for nothin'.
Check out wildfoot's Buzzsaws.

Re: Buzzsaw Clarets
Ferdi had some nice ones, I picked up a few stags when he got out and lost them to varmits when my former partners dog died, he later brought me a really pretty spangled hen and I never got to breed her cause I lost her to varmits at my place too. They where some cutting fools, I think they where Frank Chiles not Ferdi's but they where partners and shared the yard, Frank had them for a long time long before he met Ferdi I believe.

Hi Outlaw Greys,
I know Mr. Herman Hall, he lives just a few miles from me. And yes he's famous for his Buzzsaws and one of the honest breeders in this part of GA. He won a lot with them years ago when it was legal, he has lots of stories to share if one is willing to listen. I think most of the Buzzsaws here in North GA are from him (I maybe wrong but every breeder I know of got their Buzzsaws from Herman). He got those direct from Charlie Eidt some 40 years ago. His Buzzsaws are red (mostly light red with lemon hackle) with White streamers and white underhackles, YL and PC. They look like a typical light YLH or Boston RH. The hens are medium to dark red. Solid bodies with very thick plumage. Herman said they used to have very long tail and wing feathers, heavy feathered birds but after years of inbreeding, the wings and tails feathers are a bit shorter and some are now medium to medium-low stationed. I got my Buzzsaws from him 3 or 4 years ago but only got a hen left now (so this is not an advertisement on my part, lol...). I have a picture of her on my gallery.
And yes he's not in best of health. His wife and son Mark helps him with the few birds they have left. His Buzzsaws are very inbred though, but are very good for infusion.

Re: Buzzsaw Clarets
Engkanto- you forgot to mention a few things but everything you did mention is spot on ! to add , they will throw a SC , they are Very Game and have no quit in them , however they are are not too athletic- but aggressive and pack quite a Wallup ! They can be a little on the mean side also ! They are pretty bad to take a billhold first and throw a long lasting ground shuffle , hence Thier name ... There are def alot better roosters out there though if a guy is in the market .... JMO

Re: Buzzsaw Clarets
I kno a man that had these birds back when it was legal that caught his stags up out of his barn still running loose and took them one week later to win 4 out of 5 in a big name pit....... I think we could all use some birds like that

Re: Buzzsaw Clarets
I probably get this turned around as was a lot of years ago I watched MrCharlies entry win straight at Milkdairy in LA with Buzzsaw Clarets x Charlie Eidt Redquill and couple weeks later win straight with 2 shows of his Miner Blue x Redquill at Birds of a Feather later renamed Hickory. reason I mentioned both LOL I cant remember if I got the right fowl at the right show been lot of years back.Saw both shows in about a months time I went to visit Mr Charlie got some Redquill came back next year got more.Mr Charlie wasnt in best of shape he had a three wheeler with bucket racks back then as he couoldnt carry the feed buckets and DR said no shows so he had to send them with friends. The Buzzsaw's with the RQ was awesome shoulda got some of them too.-same Redquills Reb Williamson sold for several years till he passed-Jim
