Sabong Etiquette...
Does this still apply?... Just my own etiquette that I adhere to, I am sure marami pa kayong pwedeng idagdag dito...
1.) Always give credit to the breeder if you win with thier fowls.
2.) Never criticize a breeder if you do not like thier fowls, Just don't buy it and walk away...It is your right not to buy
3.) If you have established yourself, Do not look down on backyard or small buyers, specially OFW's, Just the same, they worked hard for thier money. Do not underestimate the buying power of this group.
4.) If your fowl wins against a brand or bigtime breeder, Avoid posting it in public sites or brag about it as much as possible. It might be good for your ego but not much sportsmanship in it. Always remember winning one or two fights does not mean you are a better breeder or cocker, You might win the first two but could lose the next 20 fights with him. You probably just had a better luck that day.
5.) Do not make a pledge to field an entry if you have no intention to join or if by some unforseen circumstances you made a pledge and could not join, inform the promoter right away.
6.) Do not blame the handler or gaffer if you lose a fight, Your opponent might just have a better bird.
7.) Do not bet what you cannot afford to lose, Some might admire or idolized you for betting big but in the end you could end up as the fool.
8.) Do not ask for a main if you cannot or will not honor it.
9.) If you have a bird that is a certifiable reject in any way, Do not sell it to unsuspecting buyers...Just cull it. No amount of money is worth your reputation.
10.) If you buy from a breeder and lost in a fight, Do not assume it was a reject and blame the breeder...You chose it, You fed it, you conditioned it and you decided to fight it. If there is some one to blame, Blame yourself.
Lastly, Just enjoy the sport..It is meant to be enjoyed and give us satisfaction, Not stress, heartaches nor conflict.
as I always say:
GOD, family, friends, Sabong...When the order is reversed...It's time to QUIT.
