how to tell your breed
Ok guys I'm 16 and brand new to the cock fighting world. We have always had chickens and atleast 1 game rooster and I always put him by himself and fought with our "regular" roosters. Well I'm going to start fighting for money at pits in the next couple years so I recently got 2 three month old roosters from an old man I have known for a while he has had the bloodline 30 years and has won many fights with them. He gave me tips and pointers about dubbing, trimming spurs, etc.. but I never asked what type they were so if I post a pic. On here would anyone be able to identify them? They Are a white legged rooster. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

Re: how to tell your breed
Best way to know is to be able to look them up by toe Mark or wing band # in a record book. Won't be possible this time but all offspring should be recorded, but post your pictures, and some of us might can give an educated guess

Looks or phenotype of the bird will only give you a clue of the closest possible bloodline but it is not a guarantee. The best thing for you to do to be 100% sure is to ask the old man. You just said that its the old mans bloodline for 30 years so it is he who best know the bloodline of the rooster he gave you. I am not sure if anyone here can beat the old man that gave you the chicken in telling its bloodline.

WOW he's been a member for a month and asking those ? And nobody has said anything like I smell a rat. How is it that there will be some people that ask similar ? But they get the choping block and others get a free pass. ?

Fighting chickens is illegal....!!!!! We don't part take in that kind of behavior.....And the easiest way to find out what kind of chickens you have is to ask before you buy them... Or ask the old man that gifted them to you....Kali.....

Haha well I am very sorry for responding like I did haha I just joined the forum and just trying to learn a little bit man but I do see what you meant though if everyone posted stupid questions like this it could get really annoying! Here in Alabama its only a $50 fine if you get caught so It's really just a slap on the wrist compared to some other places

Re: how to tell your breed
Instead if taking pictures and asking on here why dont you just ask the "old man" he is the only one who can tell you what they are ..everything else is just a guess ..

I have every intention of asking him but I just rarely see him so I was just going to see if anyone on here could put their educated guess on them. I assure you though the next time I see him i will ask

Alabama why don't you ask the man that you got them from what they are? You can,t expect people not to be suspicious of a newcomer asking those type questions with the state of affairs our sport is in today.
Walk softly talk softer! you will get further

Alambamacocker just so you know all cockers are a paranoid breed of their own including myself . Whether it be paranoid of tree hugger spy's, varmints , thiefs, etc but paranoid of something. But we understand that you only have a $50 fine in Alabama. But there are people out there wanting to make that fine a lot more with jail time and you better believe the check this website. So when you mention things like you don't care who thinks what that you're going to fight you're birds that it's just a slap on the wrist all you are doing is giving those people more ammo to stiffen those penaltys bc they now have proof that nobody cares about the fine bc it's no big deal . Do you see my point ? So in my advice for future reference ask all the questions you want about fowl but be careful about how you ask it . And my best advice is if you are going to illegally fight you're birds DON'T advertise it to the world and yes this is a world website . Also if you are talking about fighting you won't get much help on here . But if you figure out how to ask something the correct way there are a ton of ppl on here that have probly forgotten more than you will ever know. And talking about fighting is an easy way to get removed and you won't find another place with this much information about fowl .

Re: how to tell your breed
Question, I recently acquired a "pure BOSTON ROUNDHEAD". I got it from a reputable breeder.I'm just wondering he says it's pure but the chicken is a dirty feet yellow legged black spur. Ganito ba talaga ang pure na BOSTON?

Also if you're telling everyone you're fighting on here and get removed how long do you think the ppl at the pit if you have one to go to are going to let you come fight if they find out you're telling everyone you're fighting I'm sure you don't care bout the fine but they will care and you will find yourself banned from there as well

Re: how to tell your breed
jesus h christ everybody the "boy" just wants to know what his roosters look like. no need to make a big deal. if he wants to fight em thats his business. you aint gone tell no 16 year old boy somethin he dont already know anyway... the birds look like roundheads to me possibly kelso too... ask the guy you got em from. the longer you stick with what youre doin and see other peoples birds youll start being able to see certain traits that alike birds have. good luck to you buddy, but as you can see this is sort of a secret society that tells secrets lol so next time just dont publicly ask point blank. theres lots of good help on this forum if you just read older posts

Re: how to tell your breed
Like you said and Ttate said its only a $50 fine. They came very close this year in bama to getting it a felony we got by, by the skin of our teeth. So you can understand why people talk like they do. These bas#@# dont need anymore ammo to use against us cause you can believe their on here to loking for things to use against us here in bama and everywhere else. Good luck with your fowl.

Re: how to tell your breed
are they straight or pea combed? white or yellow legs? pic looks blurry but looks like one is straight comb pearl legged and the other looks pea combed dirty yellow legged. i'd go with kelso or maybe a cross.
