definitely the best blood sport
it requires special skills from both man who breeds and prepares the fowl.......and the skills of the fowl itself in fighting.

cockfighting is...
more sport than chess...
when you admit defeat...thats sport..
when you congratulate the winner...thats sport...
when you win in a battle...thats more sport...
i think in every battle theres is sportmanship

James Wolf asked if Horse Racing is a sport. I got your drift James, cockfighting is in line with Horse Racing...they have their distinct identity, not to be considered anything else but themselves.
Cockfighting is cockfighting...hehehe.

MEANING OF SPORT:
: COMPETITIVE PHYSICAL ACTIVITY- involving physical exertion or skill, governed by rules and sometimes engaged in professionally.
:COMPETITVE PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AS A GROUP- competitive physical activities considered collectively as a group.
:PASTIME-an active pastime participated in pleasure or exercise.
the chickens do the physical activity, humans initiates the physical exertion of chickens governed by rules as a group and do it as a pleasure. so will this be okey as description of cockfighting as a sport? i hope so :teeth:

i dont know the real status but used to be the franchise of cockpit is governed by the games and amusement board, a governing body of different sport leagues and association. when i type "sport of cockfighting" in my computer and click it, it directs me to links cockfighting as a sport per se. so cockfighting is accepted as a sport universally.

HOw the hell did they consider World Series Poker As a sport anyway? Its in ESPN and promoted as a sport. I t agree to james wolf's comparison and Kidd's point.
Horse trainers condition their brute before an upcoming event, the same way handlers and owners prepare the roosters they would field in the competition they choose. There is skill and knowledge involve to do it right and every participant is on to get an edge. the difference is in cockfighting there is no take 2 or second chance for the loser.. That's just the way it is.

Many don't consider it as a sport, but for us who knows about it, we consider it as a sport. Me too I consider it a sport. Just look at those sports that involves full contact, like boxing, kick boxing, karate etc, many of this sports end up being beaten up or even even dead. And it involves bigger amount of money:teeth:
It will become a vice if you end up losing evrything including your family!
But to me it's passion, entertainment , national culture that's why I LOVE THIS GAME !

I would always consider it as a sport, some would say it's a plain Gambling, but it depends on a person who are involve in it.
If you're a Sabungero you're not a Gambler, then sabong is a Sport!! And I LOVE IT!!
